my guesses:

skiing is filled with douches who like to act like they're in some cool secret club

you don't want people overhearing and then asking why they have to pay retail

Yeah, the guys who get pro deal often act like it is some super secret club and get very agressive of you talk about it. I had a recent experience with a shop employee that led me to wondering about this.

People have to take the pro deal for their contract. If u aren’t on contact u can probably get skis for way less than the pro deal tho.

Probably so other customers dont get upset and ask for a deal just because you do. Companies like Oakley are actually really strict with retailers and often set price points and dont allow sales. Its not worth it to a Mom and Pop local ski shop to piss off a major supplier because someone emailed them saying how another dude got a deal but they didnt etc.

Did you got to a shop asking for a pro deal?

No, i just told the guy, that i had a discount on boots, and i needed to try a pair on, i told him i would not be buying from him, but i told him that i would still ne buying other gear from him, then he started ripping on me, and saying you cant go around talking about pro deal.

Seems like he was annoyed you werent gonna give his store another $300, you also couldve just tried the boots on without mentioning the discount, otherwise yeah only pro deal to not discuss is the ones employees get and just dont mention it to people like customers who are paying probably double the employees are.

Basic rules to pro deal:

-don't go to a shop and get professionally boot fitted, then peace out and buy online prodeal, its a douche move

-unless the shop is affiliated with your organization, don't go around asking for discounts, shops are usually struggling as it is

-don't go around telling people about your discounts, if you have them it means you need it cause you work in the industry, it's not cool to boast about the deals and stuff

basically you have a pro deal because you work in the industry and whatever you do puts a lot of stress on your gear (more than the average person), so use it as a tool in that way,

So your “experience” is you being low class. Are you dumb?

Just cause you know about pro deals doesn't mean you deserve pro deals. Nobody owes you anything. Are you tight with the shop? Are you an upcoming local ripper? Just cause you want something doesn't mean you can have it

Yeah i didnt really think about it at the time, but i really needed to try on boots, because otherwise i was going to end up with the wrong size, and i kinda let it slip. I dont know what to say to people when your not going to buy the product that they are pitching you.

Nobody want to go near your nasty feet especially when you have no intention of purchasing. Daft
