i dont mean define style in general... if you claim to have good style then you should know what makes it look good. so i mean define what you do to make yourself look stylish on skis.

style to me comes with having complete control of a trick from begining to end.. not just in the air... on the approach, on the takeoff, in the air on the landing, as well as after the jump when you are turning around or whatever.

style to me is not leaving any part of a trick to chance, from your head all the way to your toes.

controlled arms, legs, poles, skis... eveything.

no flailing. and this leaves room for interpretation too... both jon and pollard fall into this category, but they obviously have completly different styles... but niether move any more than they need to in order to pull a trick.

the people who get the most respect from me in the style category are people such as dash long, eric pollard, belan, larose, scottie havens,chris turpin, and Isaac Smith.

these people dont leave anything to chance, they anylize a trick from begining to end till it is perfect.

especially dash and eric.. these two make sure that not even a finger is out of place in the air... everything they do has to be perfect or it is done again and again till it is right.

I gotta agree with dirty that a big part of style is showing how you have complete control of your skis and body throughout the trick. Being able to do things both ways, larose style. I'm not a fan of the wannabe badass atittude though.

I see it two ways:

style is individuality(?), everyone has their own style and ways of doing stuff.

stylie is something that someone else does that I think looks rad.

Style is just the way you ski. Having good style is defined by the people, its just what people want to see.

This is how style falls into a trick if you want it in numbers:

x*.25y= Total point score

when x=trick difficult; y=(.75a*b*2c)=style when a=originallity and b=exucution of trick and c=appropriate adjustment of trick to topographical and geographical situation.

if you cant tell when something is stylie you are seriously messed up. some kid does a 900 but he is struggling to get it around. its a fuckin sick trick. but then another kid goes down and does a smooth switch 5 with a grab of his choise and makes it look so ill. thats what i say to people about this subject. but shit i agree with the people who said its different for everyone.

No, I'm stating a simple fact, most skiers have no style. And also that if you watch any good boarder you'll agree they has way more style.

There are alot of skiers with style, but most dont, It's not hard to understand.

hey dirty - derek (shanemcwannabe) is from ontario... we have many, many, many crappy ass ski kids come up from the city and take over blue mountain (and most other resorts - haha, i called them resorts) every weekend. it's sad really. at least they don't stick around on weekdays - we get the hill all to ourselves.

I said you cannot define Style because it has no true defination. Joker's 'definition' was dictionary. The definition you are looking for is what people see style as. It's a visual thing. Nothing more.

And believe it or not, everyone has style. You just don't agree or like their style.
