I like the site as much as any other user, but please stop posting so much crap on Facebook. Everytime I login, my mini feed is just clogged up with your unoriginal content - links to other things and general crap.

So much so that I just clicked unsubscribe from Newschoolers because it was so annoying.

Please!
 
Just wait until you get older. Your entire Facebook feed will be filled with ugly babies, complainers, and people who wear sweater vests. When you reach that point Henrik dick sucking will be a welcomed respite. Enjoy it while it lasts!
 
Site Discussion! I'm kinda with ya though, it's nothing that bothers me too much but the content is usually stuff I've already seen on the homepage here.
 
Yeah I had to unlike today. Most of the recent stuff seemed to be external articles that I really wasn't interested in. Give us some original editorial content please NS!
 
There's a lot of content right now. It'll ebb and flow as time progresses. If you need to unsub, we understand. Check back in once in a while and if it fits your need then sub again.

We're doing our best to push out what we can that is the hottest stuff happening on the site right now.
 
You can always unlike the page, no hard feelings, I promise! Also note that we've been going super heavy the last couple weeks with the Olympics going on.
 
Yea, I would love more of that shit.

I also think a lot of it is facebook's fault. Just because I click one or two links doesn't mean I want my newsfeed to be entirely newschoolers.
 
Yeah I think this plays a big part in the problem too. It's annoying and overinflates the amount of stuff NS is posting
 
amen. Facebook these days is full of stupid ass articles like "the best 15 moments of your childhood" or "10 reasons why school sucks"
 
As other people are saying, this is a massive problem with facebook's algorithm. Since there is no downvote, you have no way of saying you did or didn't like a specific type of article.

Now, second to that there's the problem that our own community was upvoting the shit out of this stuff. I think the attraction was in kind of a satirical mixed with car-wreck sort of concept where it was so horrible yet you couldn't help yourself but reading it and upvoting it. Even though Gus with those puppies fucking pissed you off, for some reason you cared that Taylor Swift mentioned him on E. Hell... I know that as much as I want to cut my eyes out for seeing that I gave a shit in a big way.

What is REALLY horrifying for me is the fact that we DID have original content. We had a guy at the Olympics - a guy who made it there because he ranked as our top features journalist over the last year - and he was writing his heart out. He got paid, and as a matter of fact, sending him was our single largest editorial expense we have ever spent on a single event.

A massive problem is the nasty habit that people have gotten into, which is getting all your ski content from facebook. The shit that does well there is the completely sensationalized bullshit that your average monkey could get into. Its fucking garbage, yet people hang out there and stop going to sites directly to get their content. Its like a bad heroin addiction or something.

If everyone who complained about the news coming on facebook just stopped trying to get their ski news from facebook - even unliked us - and just upvoted the good news they see here and downvoted the shitty stuff... then as skiers we'd have a great place where we can see both internally created news, and good stuff from around the internet.

That is what we're trying to do here. We're trying to give you one place you can go and get your fill of all the best stuff out there on the internet that matters to a skier just like you.

The funny part about all of this though, is that both idiots and core skiers alike have never paid as much attention to what we're doing as they did during the Olympics. We've had record traffic, record new users and record amounts of people re-activating their old accounts.

So whatever kind of horrifying bullshit Gus was doing with puppies, Goepper was doing to teenage girls everywhere or Joss was slaying whatever.... you people fucking loved it. The numbers sadly don't lie.

I don't get it... or maybe I do.

Anyway, bottom line is support the good content with upvotes, and downvote the shit.

 
Its super tough for us to please everyone with the FB stuff. There's tonnes of people on there that haven't seen 1% of all the awesome stuff on NS, so they eat that kind of content up.

Mousseau has been doing a killer job playing around with the type of stuff we're sharing and trying to maximize reach and enjoyment of both our 'normal' audience and our hard-core NSers out there.

For the most part, the hard core NSer will enjoy the Newschoolers experience more than FB. Its more tailored for the voracious demand for content that you come to expect. We're then trying to tailor the experience for each social network to communicate out what is happenign that fits with that network the best.
