I was gonna say, we should stop replying to these comments and telling people that its a joke. We should let them simmer in their own self righteousness.

When Paul and Napier and I finished filming this we were thinking:

"The people and powder hounds who love Snowbird will be so offended that they wont stop and wonder if its possibly a joke"

I'm stoked on these real reactions, its like a dream come true, especially since the people who run Snowbirds facebook and youtube account fully understand that its a joke. The locals are taking the bait!!

Thanks man, but seriously, the big difference is: i've been poking fun at park skiing for like 4 years, and no one has ever responded in a way like those TGR skiers. I was blown away at how personal they took that video. In my opinion that wasn't even one of my most triggering videos. Props to NS and freeskiers, we are high class

As a member of the TGR community I was doing my best to perpetuate the notion that Zane crushes all their asses. Until NS started fucking up the troll.

FWIW The forums community would probably get it. I wouldn't say FB is a representation of real Mags.

I loved this! The comments just further proved the joke, fell right into a clearly labeled trap. Quality filming, good skiing, purity of the sarcasm was something beautiful. It's just so multifaceted, it's hard to see why someone couldn't at least appreciate the work that went into making the series. It was the perfect parody of throwing "that" park skier that everyone knows into an all mountain/powder situation and watching them be out of their comfort zone. It just gave me a good laugh and a shared piece of satisfaction with watching the comment section.

Skiing is supposed to be fun, if you're not having some type of fun, you're doing it wrong IMO. Zane looked like he was having a good time and he has a lot of skill, I thought it was excellent and they weren't outright hurting anyone. Steve Stepp makes great content consistently, and it's supposed to come off this way. No harm done except the people who took such effort to find something offensive about it and clearly have heel pieces stuck up their asses.

There are plenty more park skiers making more than $100k than just Gus. There are WAY more making under that, but Gus isn't the only one (and I'd be willing to bet he's not even the highest paid).

That's not exactly what he's saying, he's saying that if you're not making that amount of money, you shouldn't call yourself a pro skier. He's wrong, if you make the majority of your income off of something, that makes you a professional in that area, so they might not be making bank off of skiing, but they can still call themselves pros. However, most skiers NS would consider "pros" (Steve included) have other jobs to support their income from skiing (something that still bothers me - companies really need to rethink athlete pay structures).

Also, to your comment, most professional skiers DO make more than $100k - way more. They're just not park/freeride skiers...

Hmm I know their is a list out there but I believe it might be a dozen park skiers making over 100k. But even so if you get paid 80,000 dollars a year to ski are you pro? id say yes.

I agree. I really don't think there's a number that needs to be attached to it. It's more about can you be sustainable on your income from skiing. Then again, that doesn't even really matter - for example, I'm a teacher (so for this arguments sake, a "professional educator") but I still have multiple side jobs to help sustain a certain standard of living, does that mean I'm not longer a "professional educator" - no, my main job/priority/source of income is from my profession. If a skier has a side job to help pay the bills, does that make then no longer a professional? I don't think so. Pretty sure if you make money doing something (any substantial amount really), then you're a professional at that.
 
I still can't comprehend how a video series titled "they see me trollin" is taken seriously by anyone with internet access. The title alone violates the definition of the act.

I feel like if you're getting paid to ski because people want to watch you ski (film skier, racer, comp skier, etc.), you can call yourself a pro. Doesn't matter how much you're getting paid imo
 
I was at Snowbird way back in the day with then the new Hellbents and the wave of hate I got from the locals was insane. Special kind of skier there for sure.

If you are a ski instructor you are a professional skier. You are paid to ski. If you make any type of income off of skiing, your profession is skiing. That means, professional.
 
Some pro's and some no's will be coming to Mt Bachelor for the second annual Hella Big Air competition on March 25th 2017.

Has Steve gone back to Snowbird since the release of that video?

If not, he should make a reaction video getting the locals' reactions. It'll be hard, because most won't have seen the vid, but it has potential to be hilarious. Snowbird (and other mountain) locals are a gold mine for comedy.
