Davinci playback problems on MacBook Pro

Does anyone have problems using Davinci on a MacBook Pro? Don't know much about laptops and computers but I figured Id be able to run it properly on a MacBook. It can run finicky and slow in general, but my main issue is just the playback footage, it's unwatchably slow, and choppy. I could be totally wrong though, any advice is appreciated.

Had same issue on my pc, try this setting:

playback > timeline proxy mode > quarter resolution

This will nerf the resolution in the playback window and hopefully make things smoother

The program seems to be fine, its likely your computer can't play the footage back at full resolution. Try setting your preview to a lower setting, otherwise you might just have to live with the choppiness unless you export some proxies for your footage.

couple options, some mentioned already but I'll make it easier for you.

Playback>timeline proxy resolution> quarter (or half)

Playback> Smart

Alternatively you can right click clips in your media bin and "generate optimized media" or "generate proxy media"

Also clearing render cache can sometimes help.
