What does it matter? Im curious to see his segment. I heard the guy rips big mountain in half. Are the only people allowed in ski movies, specifically freeskiers? Stop being so concerned with being "core" you mindless politically obsessed skiier and just ski. You people are really dragging this sport down with your elitest attitude about whats "cool" and whats "not cool" you're all posers as far as im concerned

He races professionally, that doesn't mean his segment is going to be running gates, he is an amazing skier I'm sure he's good at many aspects of the sport

let me clarify, MSP CAN SUCK MY NUTS. i dont give half a shit whos in their shitty ass movies im not buying them. sure they have a couple skiers whos stuff i like, and im sure they will be given about a 9 trick segment with enough slow motion to make me want to kill myself. for instance in that trailer there is a clip of 1 park jump, the clip is 12 seconds long, i tihnk i could hang myself 4 times over in that clip alone.

why dont people understand that if you're an amazing skier, you can be in a ski movie. Its like 'shit if hes not throwing down sw 270 on bs sw up 450 out, hes shitty' Where is the respect for a man that can do something that probably not more than a couple of us thousands can?

So you dislike him soley because hes a professional racer? So racers cannot embrance Tanner hall and other freeskiers because they arn't racers? I don't even think you guys know why you hate MSP anymore you just make up ridiclous reasons. Ralves isnt invading freeskiing if he goes into a freeskiing movie and he freeskis, ok? Just because hes good at more than one thing doesnt condemn him to stay in one aspect of skiing.

Respect for people such as Rahlves is where he belongs... ski RACING. If he is the good racer you claim him to be then I'm sure he is worshipped by his racing fans. For him to come into the "newschool" scene via MSP and you guys expect us to like him, well nope i dont think thats gonna happen.

Ralves is a sick freeskier, as most racers probably are. They have the balls & skills to ski big moutain full blast.

If you don't want to buy MSP then don't! Simple as that. Your all bitching about a movie you haven't seen.

 
man, msp kicks so much ass...........the base jumping is a little to long, i agree.......but damn id rather watch somone charged cliffs than sit in the park and spin like a top across a rail.......kids didnt like yearbook?,yearbook was freakin perfect, kuz it had you park shit, and then ur bc flippy spinny shit, chraging cliffs and lines, and then your parachuting, i thought that movie kicked so much ass........

but as for movies this year STARS, SKIS, AND HUCKS, is going to kick so much more ass....

I think seeing Ralves in a MSP movie could be interesting. Don't expect his part to be gate raping, just think about skiers like Nobis. The guy rips big mountain and was a racer as well. So Rahlves (doesn't it have an "h") has reached a high level of racing, good for him, lets see how he handles the inconsistencies and nuances of big mountain. The guy probably rips.

I think the segment where he is racing through the gates on that sick face in powder might be one of the most interesting things that MSP puts in thier movie. Yes it might not be as "progressive" as freeskiing but its is damn hard to adapt to a line that someone has chosen for you do ski. So I think that if you can't do what this guy is doin in the movie then you have no fuckin right to hate on him.

I have nothing really against Rahlves being in a ski movie and skiing big mountain, although I somehow doubt he deserves it more than others that could have been put in, but in any case, I think putting gates on a big mountain face is patently retarded.

The angles and such in MSP look cool, but I can see better skiing from the same guys, in TBC, WAR, Pop Yer Bottlez. Whatever.

You only saw like 5 seconds of his segment. You never kow what the rest of the segemnt involves. Maybe he hits the park or rips big mountain without gates. We don't know we'll just have to wait and see. But I doubt he does and "newschool" stuff.

 
As far as I'm concerned, I just like watching skiers of the highest level of their disipline do their thing. Granted watching terrain park skiers and aerialists gets boring but I suppose I could deal with it.

For those who didnt realize, that "race couse" goes over a pretty damn big cliff. Granted I would have preferred no gates, but I am sure that most of his shots will be just that.

HONESTLY. i'd rather see mosley than ralves. i want to see j mose do a 450 on or something. i cant imagine it. hes been out of it sooo long. as for ralves...i want to see the seg, but will never buy it.

rhalves is a rally good skier and MSP is expanding its audience good on them they are taking there own new direction if you dont like it fine buy a level one movie adn get park and urban. Dont like taht? Buy a PBP movie adn get ridiculous BC booters and insane park antics. Want great cinematogrphy and and music combined to make a great movie buy plehouse. Want lotsa powder adn intersting locations buy TGR. its this diversity that makes our sport great and you have to respect that.

but snowlerblading isnt part of our sport you can hate that. its a federal crime.

i think he is a good big mountain skier... at least i thought i saw some pictures of him in like powder 3 or 4 years ago... either way i bet he won't be running gates he will be tearing big mountain.

the best thing about hearing yopu so called "newschool" elitists whine about D.R....is that he knowd and does more on skis than most of you folks combined. I live in Truckee and D.R is the man...local boy, ripper, skis with the BEST park and big mountain skiers in the world when not racing and is one of the more approachable athletes in the sport. Say what you want, but remember that MSP has never called their movies "newschool"...that is a label YOU have placed on them.

Its funny to read...cause you talk to real skiers, the pros in the sport...ask Plake, Kreitler, Gaffney (s), Mckonkey..etc...what they think of DR and they all give HUGE respect...so wheres the beef???

 
give the guy a break i mean it's their job to ski everyday too ya know? if 2 skis are on the bottom of your feet give the guy respect you don't even know him what did he do to you really and im not saying i know him myself

i dont like msp just because their movies are boring. i end up skipping almost everyones segment except for a couple people. i dont really like big mountain and i hate parachuting. thats why i m not buying msp

 
big mountain skiing is not "newschool." id much rather see someone who can actually rip a big mountain than some hunched over park rat gaping his way down a fairly simple double drop (ahem, tanner in yearbook). DR is so fucking money that everyone should be ashamed for even trying to peg him as a "racer." remember, we're skiers first, and if you dont like that, go get yourself a trampoline and stay the fuck off the mountain.

 
i live on the east coast and i have never skied real big mountain and it looks very easy to me. it just seems like turning back and forth, for the most part. i dont care about the labels, i just like watching park. i do like some big mountain though, like seth morrison.

 
Fuck msp. our sport has movies because they're sick to watch skiers to what our sport promotes. by promoting a racer, putting him in a freeski movie, is just lame. BOYCOTT MSP they're ruining our sport by putting a guy who wears a spandex 90% of the time. Sure Jon used to race, but he quit and doesn't wear a spandex, even though his clothes are pretty gay now- J.lindenfuck, and is currently supporting our sport
