Damn I'm just tryna go skiing?

May 11th we may finally be able to leave our houses in spain and tour a little without helicopters chasing you and giving you 600€ fines (first time in almost two months). I believe you've been allowed to tour&hike all this time. What are you complaining about exactly?

just cause people aren't getting chased by helicopters here doesn't mean people can ski dude, most mountains are being patrolled in some way and there are ongoing stay-at-home orders in most states. You can get away with it if you're sneaky and it's certainly not a strict as europe but thinking that everyone in US/Canada can go ski right now if they want is seriously misinformed.

I heard the police in Denver were enforcing up to $999 for being out. Trails are closed, bike parks are closed, they have rangers turning people away. Then all those people started coming up.here to the mountains. One day at Breck there was over 150 people skinning up and when asked they were primarily from the front range driving over an hour. Well spread out but still a huge medical risk if injured and still to congragated for it to be safe so then they shut down uphill access. Spain is not the only one in lock down my dude.

Not sure where you are at, but in UT Alta and Solitude are allowing uphill travel. I don't have a touring setup but I've been bootpacking up Soli to get some turns in.

Utah is much different than other areas of the country/world, we're about to have all "stay at home" recommendations (were never manditory in utah) lifted saturday at 12:01am and tons of places are going to start opening this weekend.

It's tough cause nothing is open where I live. I would be going golfing but no courses are open around me which is a rip

Buy a putting mat on Amazon or just put a mug on a carpet and get nasty at putting

The state park just opened up near me so I can finally go touring and bring up rails. I'll be thinking about all u ns'ers when I'm skiing.

Most definitely can not tour/hike without facing some form of punishment over here. They closed the road up the mountain so even if you wanted to break the rules, you gotta hike 6-7 miles just to get to the snow and then keep going lol but go off

I hear you. If the covid situation does finally become contained, the stoke next time you put your sleds on will be real, pal.

I might have to unlock my inner carpenter and build a summer setup

Let's imagine I wanted to go skiing (and think a quarantine of everyone is peak stupid), but don't have back-country gear and don't want to be a dumbass and just die going off Loveland pass. Where would be the best place to just hike up in my boots and ski down? Alta/Solidtude are cool with this?

I was skiing berthoud a lot a couple weeks ago it was great tbh. A few jumps, rails, and even a pow day lol. The coverage wasnt great but the snow was nice and i felt very safe (stayed out of avy chutes still) and it was so fun. Weather is great this time of year esp in the morning and honestly not many ppl were there

Cool, didn't know. I just saw people in Wyoming and Utah ski every day on Instagram so I thought it was the norm. Baldy being open had me thinking that at the very least California was also allowing touring.

I feel ya. Depressing knowing I live right down the street from Mount Snow/Stratton, but we have people patrolling so we can't hike. It's like mission impossible trying to slide on some snow alone.

Yup both have stated on their website that they are allowing uphill travel. Alta has been doing a bit of grooming still to give people an easy way down. Felt pretty safe bootpacking up Soli and sticking to the frontside on what used to be groomers just to get some chill turns in. Obviously I'm not about to drop into honeycomb without avy gear.

Killer. Thanks for the info. How long does Alta usually keep snow late in the year. I see on the cams there still a good base. Still going to be there in a few weeks?

Definitely going to be thinner but yeah its gonna still be skiable. I saw in your other thread you are in Dallas. I def wouldn't fly here to ski slush mid May though. But you do you.

Trust me people in Dallas will

use any excuse to get out of there especially this time of year
