I got to poke through a model last night but didn't get a chance to try them out

What does everyone think about them? kind of a game changer/crossover sidecountry freeride boot, or is it just another stiff boot from Dalbello?
 
it's basically a KR2 Fusion boot with an added hike/walk mode. super sick design as the mechanism is super burly and can take a shit kicking since it's full aluminum. i was going to go with these but decided i wanted something a little more relaxed so i went with the new Panterra 120. i already have last year's Il Moro Pro so i didn't want a similarly stiff boot just for the hike mode.
 
I'm just so torn! I was planning on getting Wallisch's for this year and then I found out about the Panterra and Lupo, now I have no idea what to get for this season
 
Wallischs are a very differnt boot to either of those. For one do you want the walk mode. Also do you need the 98 mm last. Have you considered boots like the way maker carbon? I was skiing the 130 way maker carbon and that boot is awsome. But really it sounds like you need a boot fitter to recommend what boot you need fit wise and then you can decide what features you want.
 
I saw those and they looked sick! Anyone know how they compare to the kr 2 pro? Any differences besides the walk mode? The kr 2 are supposed to be pretty sweet too
 
theyre pretty similar to the kr 2 pro besides the walk mode

also because of the walk mode the stiffening wedges that fit most dalbellos won't work in the Lupos

the lupos have a more aggressive lug on the sole and they have that silly putty rubber pad for going up stairs and getting into helis

fit wise they'll be pretty similar
 
Well which do you think you can make work best for you. The lupo is obviously in a totally differnt league to the wallisch performance wise. The lateral stiffness is much stiffer in the lupo and obviously the shell fit other then last is pretty differnt. Dalbello are much nicer to work on as I'm sure you know. Stiffness wise do you need 130 where do you ski? If you have any fitting questions let me know.
 
I ski in utah, I think the lupo will fill my needs better, I'll throw in the softer rubber footboard and stick with the C tongue
 
Sounds good then. It's a nice boot to work on. The shells can take adaption well. Get a good footbed in there and do any shell work and see how they go. I would go sidas for the footbeds if you can. The super feet korks are a little wide for those liners and shell. Make sure the forward lean works for you as it's hard to change with the walk mode.
 
Bump! I called Dalbello- they told me the the Lupo SP and the K2 Krypton share the same lower mold and the only differences are the walk mode, the replaceable heal/toe and the ID Liner.

The Lupo comes with two tongues and two foot beds.
 
I just picked up a pair of Lupos yesterday. The guy in the shop (knows his stuff) said that if you want boots with a walking option, the Lupo is miles ahead of anything else.
 
Even with the K2 pinnacle 130? I've heard that's the best walking option but not sure about the heel fit on K2s new boot. The spine seems like a cool feature as well.

anyone tried?
 
The kr2 bootboards are dfferent than the lupos. Just bought some kr2 rubber ones off of craigslist, and they are thicker than the lupos. Dalbello definitely had to redesign the bootboard because of not having the solid lug sole.

Mine only came with the stiff bootboards. Should they have come with rubber lupo bootboards too?

Either way. This boot is fucking burly. Can't even tell it has a walk mode while skiing.
 
They don't sell k2 boots (shops in norway), so i'm not really sure about that. I was comparing mostly to other dalbello boots either way, didn't make that clear i guess. Can't wait to try my lupos, all i need is some snow.
 
i've heard really good things about the pinnacle 130 but you could say i chickened out of going with a boot from a new company becuase i had to put my order in before 1)trying the boot on and 2)even physically holding a pair in my hands. i've been riding dalbellos for the last couple of years and the panterra 120 was more of what i was looking for with the adjustable width on the forefoot (i'm a FIS and AFP judge and i don't like changing my boots when judging so relaxing the fit is a bonus).

the pinnacle 130 has the buckle on the powerstrap so it will be awesome for touring/hiking since you don't need to mess around with opening the velcro. just find a good tension and leave it for the day. the walk/hike mechanism is pretty solid so there should be no problem there. the soles are a dense rubber so they won't wear out as fast as a traditional touring boot. pretty sure i may do the pinnacle next year after physically holding one in my hands.
