Dakine Mitts

Ok so I just got some THALL mitts and I noticed it came with some Nikwax for the leather. Should I put that on now or wait? Basically, do the gloves/mitts already come waterproofed or am I supposed to do it myself? I wasn't sure whether or not it is for when the mitts start letting water in or what.

Wet them with a cloth, then rub in a ton of Nikwax before you use them. The leather is conditioned, but not waxed.
