D7000 EFF error message

My D7000 (just bought it) is being a bitch and giving me an EFF error message. The google has told me it's an error message regarding the aperture rings (yes it's set at the max, that's not the problem) It works with one of my lenses 95% of the time, and the other none of the time.

Anyone know how to fix it? I'm thinking it might be a contact issue?

nikon af lenses (older ones) have external aperture rings that if not set at f/22 (or whatever has some color, often orange or green or something). Try moving it over to that and locking it if it has that option. get back to me if that doesn't work.

sorry didn't finish that thought: nikon af lenses (older ones) have external aperture rings that if not set at f/22 (or whatever has some color, often orange or green or something).. pretty sure if not moved to that position, it'll give that error message. might not be it, but off the top of my head, pretty sure thats the problem.

Triple post, and I didn't bother reading your entire thread. Yeah, might be a contact issue. As dumb as it sounds, take the lens off and on, maybe turn off the camera. I'm less helpful than I thought I was, sorry.

SO I cleaned the contacts on my nikkor 50mm and that lens works, my sigma 70-210 is still not working. I've locked out the aperture and all that. I took the lens into a repair shop today for a diagnosis and pricing.

It will probably cost more to repair then a new lens, any ideas what to replace it with? I'm leaning towards a slightly longer lens, but price is important.

If its a non-cpu lens I'm pretty sure you'll get that error. Go into settings and enter the lens data.

The lenses are CPU, and they are locked to max aperture. The contacts are clean all around (hence it working with one lens, and not the other)
