ok so i just pressed "create thread" and i had logged out somehow so this will be short
-i own a D60-wanted to purchase some new lenses-http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/247091-GREY/Nikon_2137_Normal_AF_Nikkor_50mm.html and-http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/66980-GREY/Nikon_1919_Wide_Angle_AF_Nikkor.html- both lenses say "AF not supported by D40 and D60, D3000, D5000 cameras"
i believe the D60 doesn't have built in AF and i like having both AF and MF but do i have to shoot in MF with these lense? am i missing something or does this just suck?
i wasn't planning on upgrading my body until i saw the need (maybe in a year or so) and after i had a few lenses and a flash, but this is pretty annoying.
thanks,cole

so the d60 has no in body auto focus motor, which means you cannot auto focus with an lenses that are not AF-S, which has the motor in the lens

ahhhhhh fuck. i didn't realize there was a difference between AF and AF-S. man i'm glad i didn't order that stuff.

use manual focus? i rarely shoot with autofocus, and its something i really enjoy. try it with current lenses and see if you can get used to it, if you do, you may be pleasantly surprised..

i do, but i enjoy having auto-focus as well, especially as a beginner photographer. i find auto-focus really nice when you need to get that "spur-of-the-moment" shot, which happens pretty often. and also when i'm having too much trouble with manual-focus, auto is nice to have. im kinda putting that out of the question because i feel it would be a bad idea so i guess i could buy either 2 AF-S lenses, or a D90 and 1 AF lens. i'm leaning towards buying a D90 right now.
goddamnit i don't know how i missed that there was a difference between AF and AF-S.
