Cutting down my salomon brigade poles.....

1. however short you need till they dont hit when your riding switch.

2. 4frnt tech talk, dropdown bar off of NSTV, look for the edition on poles

Or until they feel good in your hands. Although stand in your boots and click into your skis to check the height. But watch the 4frnt tech talk on it, my brother got a pipe cutter for 7 dollars and it worked fine.

I cut mine down to the point where I can extend my arms straight down and hold the top of the grip. That works well for me.

I always cut mine down so that when I have my arm hanging straight at my side the top of the grip is at my wrist.

Also the brigade poles are kind of a bitch because you need to boil them in hot water to get the chrome parts of the grip off (they are glued tight)

Short enough so you don't nut yourself on them. Shorter poles are also less likely to bend if you fall on them. Then again, you can always cut them shorter, but you cant make them longer.

step 1: Remove the grips using a hair drier to heat them upstep 2: remove the baskets from the bottom of the polesstep 3: glue the basket directly onto the grip
you now have, by definition, the steeziest poles in the world

as with all aluminum ski poles, they can be shortened...all you do is pull off the handles and saw them off at the length you want...replace handles...done.

Hold the pole upside down and put your hand under the basket, cut it so that you have a 90 degree bend in your arm. Short poles were cool like 3 yeras ago, now all the trend followers are doing it. Shorties work in moguls,. Just remember the shorter the pole the easier it is to stab yourself in the stomach/face/chest.... And put baskets on please, no one needs a spear in the head.

I keep mine about 5cm longer than the average guy, I like to push with them through flats and use them for touging where you need longer poles cause of pow.

You guys can't make some cut in the leather or something? All you'd need to do it make a line so a pipe cutter/hacksaw blade could get right to the metal. Then cut, remove a bit more leather and slide the grip back on.

don't bother buying fancy poles for park, there bound to get trashed so just find some cheap kids poles at your local shop or value village.

You know what? The problem is not cutting the leather, but the leather construction doesnt allow taking the grip off. And yes, I have talked to Salomon about this, so dont try to be so damn clever.

I have owned and cut these poles down successfully.
step 1: cut leather 3 inches down from the height you want them.step 2: boil grip.step 3: pull 'em like a motherfucker, also using edges of tables to bang off the chrome caps.step 4: saw step 5: put them back on/hot glue or whatever you want to use.
