Custom footbeds question

Looking to get some custom footbeds for my full tilts. I’ve

been calling around to a couple ski shops to get prices and have been quoted

anywhere from $120 all the way up to $300. I’ve never had custom insoles before

so I’m not sure how the process works or what to look for. Is there anything I

should be asking the shop/looking for so that would justify the price

differences? Or are all custom footbeds pretty much the same?

The price difference is in the material of the footbed. the more expensive ones will absorb a lot of moisture, whereas the cheaper ones will not. I would probably look for something around $215, you'll definitely get something great. I hope this helps. Cheers mate!

Which shops did you call, and who told you what?

For custom footbeds around the Seattle area, I'd personally head to Sturtevant's in Bellevue, with Evo as my second choice.

Custom footbeds are all about one thing- the person who is making them. A Sidas or an Instaprint or whatever else are available at thousands of shops, but they will all vary in terms of their quality because their quality/performance is only as good as the person who makes them.

Instead of asking what kinds of custom footbeds are the best, you should ask who are the best boot-fitters in your area and try to get testimonials of people who got footbeds there.

Thanks this is super helpful. I did call Stuartevant's and they quoted me ~$200 including re-heat-molding my intuition liners. I'll head there!

This, as someone who has made quite a few custom vacuum molded footbeds I can attest to how easy it is to fuck up, and I most definitely did my fare share of times. But when you get them done right, it is 100% worth the cost.
