Current/Future Colorado State University Fort Colins Students

Got the Idea form the Boulder thread. I got accepted and now its down to weither I can afford it, I'm retaking the SAT and ACT and hopefully will qualify for the WUE. Otherwise I don't think I can go.

But hows everyone like it there or future students how stoked are you about the place?

I'm a sophomore here.

Fort Collins is an awesome town, and CSU is a good school. I've yet to meet someone that actually hates it here. You wont be disappointed.

I just recently graduated from CSU. Fort Collins is a nice/fun town. Always something to do, lots of chill people. Only complaint i would have is that its kinda far from skiing , but if you have a place to stay just head up on Friday and make a weekend out of it.

grew up in fort collins, trying to do research there this summer, maybe grad school in a year. really nice town, but weekend drives to the mountains get tedious. i was home on break, skied 4 days, drove 16 hours, got to ski some sick snow though so it was worth it

i hated csu. i drove for the tour. walked on tour for like 5 minutes and i dont know i just wasnt feeling it so i left. it might have been cause i drove from a tour at boulder and boulder is beautiful as fuck

Grew up an hour north of there. Love it there, wouldn't mind living there in the future except I hate driving through Fort Collins, but that's just me being picky.

It's a really fun city, tons of active stuff to do, bar scene is awesome, tons of good food..

I'm from Fort Collins, moved to Bozeman for school and haven't left. Its a great town, and the food is phenomenal. Like earlier stated, far from skiing, but you make do. Lots of fun outdoorsy stuff as well

My english teacher went to CSU, he liked it there. i went to baseball camp there when i was like 8, i didnt like it. it was too hot and there were mean kids there. one was from alaska and he said they dont have baseball teams there, like what? Hahahaha

I don't go there but I went down for a weekend to visit my friend who does, he lives in Parmalee hall and it was extremely nice, especially coming from the shitty MSU dorms. The food on campus is also pretty awesome. I was thinking about transferring there but it's just too big of a school for my liking. If you don't mind that though Fort Collins is definitely a nice place.

joking?? i cant tell..

anyway, fort collins is the shit, there's always awesome shit to do, the mountains around there, like horsetooth mountain park, lory, pingree, etc. are all awesome. theres some of the best mountain biking on the front range, horsetooth reservoir is awesome during the summer, you can spend all day swimming, hiking, biking, climbing, cliff jumping etc.. pingree has awesome camping. theres some awesome dirt jumping spots if thats your thing, good hills on the north side of town/mountains for longboarding down. like 5 really good skateparks in the area. super good place to road bike in the town and mtns. really good food all over the place, city park's got lots of fun stuff. shooting ranges, offroading nearby, and a lot more..

its so much better than Boulder, at boulder all you get is all the shitty kids who want to come to colorado and spend their college years constantly high/drunk, and being douche bags. Boulder is one of the worst places you can find in terms of the people, im pretty sure the word snob was created because of boulder. the surrounding area is cool, but not as cool as fort collins.

Well I saw they didn't have what I wanted and the campus had weird vibe to me. And the town didn't seem that nice I don't know from what I saw I hated it. FUCK EVERYONE

corbett, parmalee, durward, or westfall would be my first choices if I went back to the dorms. They have coed hallways and are way funner than any of the dorms on the south side of campus.

i think i know what you mean by breeding douchebags, if by that you mean the boulder types then yeah ft. collins does get a few of those.

or the other type of douchebag(kinda the same actually, but more specific) is the beer enthusiast, knows all about the different kinds of beer like he's at a wine tasting, rides his bike everywhere not because he enjoys it but because "cars suck" "i pass on gas". doesnt own a TV because he's trying to make a statement, tells everyone about it. dresses like he's much poorer than he is. brags about how little material possessions he has. only buys local no matter how shitty the product is. all about being accepting and chill and cool with everything but if you arent just like him then fuck you.

yeah there are a few of those types around, but they mostly stick around the bars and breweries which you're bound to find shitty people at nomatter where they are. but i will say, its a much smaller concentration than boulder. i actually had someone bitch at me while i was in boulder because they could smell my laundry detergent, because it wasnt organic or some shit and it was making them feel sick. seems like every time i go there i encounter some stuck up snob that has a problem with everything.

and mtn biking is definitely not mediocre, if you know where to go there is some awesome stuff, probably the best on the front range and ranks up there with some of the best in the state. I'd spend like every free day and day after work up in the horsetooth area doing something fun for like the entire summer.

Where are you talking about that has other/cooler/better things to do? i cant think of anything within an hour or so, maybe rocky mtn national park? boulder, greeley, denver, etc all suck.

i will say the distance from the mountains kinda sucks, but really, if your anywhere IN denver it takes about just as long when you include getting out of the city, boulders a little quicker but not enough to really notice or care. the distance sucks but you get used to it, 1:50 to breck isnt terrible.

basically if your into outdoor stuff, swimming, hiking, biking, camping, offroading, etc.. (the offroading/caming spots within 40 minutes are awesome) fort collins is great, if your more into the bars, party, drinking/smoking, socializing, I have lots of money but pretend to be poor by looking like a dirty hippy, scene. then go to boulder.

Thanks. Now that you describe it from someone that knows the ins and outs it doesn't seem like it will be as cool as I was hoping. Now that I'm going to school I I'm going to focus on it and thought skinning/hiking/camping/campfires/buildingarail garden in the woods would be a cool way to take a break and relax from hitting the books all day.

Just bumping this to get a better picture of the place.

Everyone like it there?

I'm thinking out going there but don't know anyone else thats attending, so I'm not sure if that will be tough or if theres enough stuff going on that theres always something to do and have a good time.

Every place has douche bags. You'll find chill skiers at both CSU and CU, but CSU is a farther drive from the mountains.

So are there a lot of douche bags there, though?

Someone should paint a portrait for me of the average student, both male and female

Every school has douchebags, but I can tell you with certainty that there are more douchebags at cu because half the students are either cali bros or trustafarians.
