Crystal or Snoqualmie?

Just moved out to Washington. I go to college out here and my school has shuttles to Snoqualmie and Crystal.. I'm gonna check to see if there are also shuttles to Baker/Stevens, but assuming there aren't, which mountain should I get a pass to, Snoqualmie or Crystal? I'm trying to shred mostly park and powder.. so which mountain typically gets better snow and which has a better park?

It seems like people hate on Snoqualmie's park often, I saw a thread about some new features that they're planning to put in this upcoming season and at least a few posts mentioned that they would be set up poorly. Can you, or anyone, speak to this at all?

I think I'm gonna go with Crystal as of now.

snoqualmie is inconsistent to say the least. Plenty of jibs, albeit a tad monotonous. Jumps are severely hit or miss. Good chunk of the season will be a waiting game. The sad thing is, they can build perfectly great features for special events, but the day-to-day is usually subpar (in my not so humble opinion).

This. But, Crystal has only had a park for what? A season?

I'd go Stevens if you have the choice.

Oh yea, totally forgot: crystal doesn't really have a park.

You might as well begin castration now because there is no middle ground

... except at stevens

you should factor cost and time. Its longer to get to crystal and a season pass is like double the cost of the summit. Alpental is sick if theres no lines, which is rare

I never post, but logged in for this. SNOQUALMIE. Its the illest. Super close, super fun park, and when the snow gets nice and dep theres tons of shit everywhere. People will say crystal and stevens but the vibes there are bullshit, theyre way more expensive and way farther away.

Snoqualmie college Pass $350

Stevens College pass $300

Seattle to Stevens- 90/100 minutes

Seattle to Snoqualmie- 50/60 minutes

Snoqualmie elevation- 3000 ft

Stevens elevation- 4000 ft

Snoqualmie attitude - fuck skiers, let's snowboard without strapping in or doing anything

Alpental attitude (weekday) - I'm so fucking core! And shred so fucking hard, you have no idea how awesome Alpental is.

Alpental attitude (weekend) - check out my sweet pontoons I got at evo bra, my good friend Bryce Phillips showed me the light!

Stevens Attitude - let's go skiing.

Snoqualmie lift lines - long enough to diversify your portfolio.

Stevens lift lines - huh?

This has reminded me to make a comparison of the local ski areas, that I have been meaning to do. I will write it latter.

alpental is legit. on pow days the line at chair too will get really long but bc laps will make it so you dont have to bother with them that much. and when the snow isnt the best the lines die down and if you know where to go you can find some deep stashes.

Crystals terrain is sick though

What?

Maybe I will dig up some Gopro shots later of some lift lines at Alpental this past season, fucking ridiculous, but the snow was soooo worth the wait on those particular days.

It's best to ignore internet trollery and discover the mountains on your own terms........

Anyways with Crystal vs. Snoqualmie It pretty much comes down to the price-point. Snoqualmie is about half as expensive as Crystal, has a fairly sick park as well as BC at Alpy. Crystal is pricy, and has expansive terrain but doesn't have things like night skiing etc. Do you want high accessibility at a cheap price or; more quality terrain, lower accessibility, at a higher price?

Personally I went with Crystal because of the elevation difference, Snoqualmie gets a fair amount of rain due to the low elevation.

Skiing in the rain builds character.

Hiking in the rain to go skiing in the rain builds even more character.

David Steele has a lot of fucking character.

Snoqualmie's park is the dopest in WA. And Crystal has better freeride and usually better snow cuz it's higher elevation. I shred Snoqualmie mid-week at nights for park because they are open until 10. And Crystal every weekend.

Welcome to the Great Northwest brother!

snoqualmies park could be good if the parks crew put the effort into it. They have the features and equipment they just always end up putting it together shittily, especially jumps. That being said sometimes they get it right and the park is super dope.

So if I prefer consistently good snow and good terrain to an inconsistent park, I should go with Crystal?

yes.

snow=shit at snoqualmie.

terrain=shit at snoqualmie.

as mentioned, terrain is good at alpy but small and when there is a rare pow day, it gets tracked out quick due to high traffic. if you can afford crystal, that would be my suggestion. endless terrain, great snow, but the park is pretty shitty. its just a handful of jibs thrown into an otherwise blue groomer. you can always cruise up to snoqualmie on a weeknight for some park if your feeling adventerous considering that there is nightskiing basically every night until 10, and a night pass at snoq is wayy cheaper than a day pass to crystal.

And if you haven't noticed Crystal gets a lot of hate on here cuz it's sort of a snobbish resort, but if you aren't a disrespectful piece of shit like most people on here it'd a quality resort.

Regardless of wether you ski snoqualmie or crystal, you need to see what you are skiing! Both these areas can feature weather on both extremes of the spectrum. Even more important is how fast it can change from one situation to another. You need a goggle that can handle these situations flawlessly and quickly, adapting as fast as the weather changes. You want the Uvex Sioux Super Pro goggle with photo chromatic lens technology. Uvex makes the most badass goggles to date, and these have awesome photo chromatic lenses!

They retail for $200, but I will sell you a brand new pair for $50. Fucking deal right there.

Honestly as far as the park goes for snoqualmie it definately is amazing or completely shitty but i still think its not bad and i have a neighbor up there who is gonna be a planner for the park and part of the park crew and she said theyre gonna make some changes with the way things are set up and how theyre set up. but out of all the resorts in washington Stevens has been my favorite it has nice pow and an awesome park but snoqualmie isnt bad either and honestly i thought stevens terrain was better than crystals(besides the king)

Dont come to snoqualmie, its gonna terrible, and rainy. We get no snow and people suck here. If I were you id go to stevens or crystal. Baker sucks too dont go there.
