last year you could rent PONTOONS from Rainer Rides under the Alpine Inn......pretty core

but while everyone was watching the new northback chair, crystal's fabulous new management didn't renew Rainer RIdes' lease

next up is the Snorting Elk Cellar

 
rainier rides is closed...
crystal decided not to extend the lease so now theyre runnin their own shop where rainier rides was.

 
its just gonna be an extension of the demo shop i think.
the only reason i heard about it is cuz sterling had to move outa his van and up to whistler.

but yea u know wuts up. haha

 
The new shop has equipment from Volkl, K2, Salomon, Rossi, Neversummer(I think?), Lib Tech... thats all I can remember right now. I don't know what will be in there though.

I should be there every saturday
 
No its true. Crystal is cleaning up its image.

Kirchner saw all the little kids and dogs sitting outside freezing in the snow while there was warmth and laughter and good beer inside the Elk.

And it came to pass.

This year if you wander into the Cellar you will get knocked out from behind, dragged through the parking lot, and forced to do a sitdown candlelit dinner at the Bullwheel. WITH NO SKI MOVIES SHOWN ON THE TVs.

i dont go their, but im happy for you guys, you got a new lift that opens as much terrain that is allmost the size of stevens pass (i go their regularly)
 
I don't know what you guys mean by "new management." Nothing has changed? And snorting elk is certainly still a bar...
 
no. It's horrible. The best skiing on the mountain will get tracked out immediately. The terrain has always been there, but now it's way too easily accessible.
 
this new northway chair does nothing but contribute to both global warming and powder being tracked out at an increased rate.

it must be destroyed.
 
To all the uptight people at Crystal, and there is hope, as a patroller lent me his knife to cut some shredded base out of of core shot today, I say:

Looks like fun. I can't wait until this weekend, I can't even wait until break. I wish there was winter break instead of summer break, then I'd be able to ski everyday.
 
not gonna lie, meeting skiers on NS is pretty gay. You see me on the chair, maybe we'll have a wassup. yeaaaaah.

Yep summit house got completely remodeled. Wouldn't suprise me if they served you, but I don't think they do. Anyway, Crystal's food is good now - expensive - but good... chili in a breadbowl!!
 
They blasted the whole fucking top off of Northway Peak and cut down so many trees the place looks completely different. Maybe one or two new hucks were exposed on the Fingers but now the whole damn world knows how to get to upper Bruce's Bowl. And the goddamn traverse tracks fucking up PennyDawgs. And beginners, kids, families, lessons.......what the fuck were lessons doing back there? One year ago this was probe, shovel, beacon terrain........and now its open to everyone? Seems like the whole damn world was taking this brandnew groomer called "otto bahn" (how creative) to get to this new chair. I talked to patrol whom admitted it completely lost is feel and that (strangely) when you remove a whole bunch of trees on a steep slope it (gasp) is more avy prone. Blow up the stupid chair and bring back the bus. And they took down all the warning signs at the former backcountry gates saying "oh shit this is steep terrain ahead". But to make up for it they tried to mark every fucking tiny cliff out there. Looks like a fucking forest of bamboo poles sticking up. Crystal should take a lesson from the Canyons and put up the big skull and crossbones backcountry warning signs at the entrance. I don't ski there very much anymore but I think I'm going to make some RIP Northway stickers and start posting them all over Crystal.
 
I'll take 100 or so of those stickers. The bus is gone too, RIP northway bus. So now you have to hike out of O meadows and lower Niagras, instead of taking I-5 back in, unless people eventually find out where I-5 was and ski it back out.

 
conflicting information on the bus....patrol said no more....but a random guy on Rex claimed the shuttle driver said he was still making runs for a couple more weeks.

so much for stashing beer at the bus stop.

at least Northway still lacks the Starter Jacket + Jeans retards

and new demo shop is awesome? they have solly X-wings so you can be like davenport.......or k2 coombas....or a bunch of skis that appear to cater to the CMAC dads who love nothing better than to tear ass down groomers and cry when it snows. the only thing awesome is its proximity to the elk cellar. and WTF is up with the new bridge to the Alpine Inn? I liked to old sketchass bridge with its icy inrun and large gap between the walkway and railing.
 
The number of people who couldn't make it through the moguls at the bottom of the lift was unbelievable, much less make their way down Bruce's Bowl or Brand X. But damn, I-5 was a full-blown gaper parade. I got asked by some skier carrying his skis at the bottom of Gun Tower how long the walk was back to Forest Queen.

So I went home and made some "Impeach John Kircher" stickers.
