Crust, doom, grind, noise, thrash, powerviolence, fastcore, d-beat

Curious if anyone on here likes any of this kinda stuff. Actually, I'm sure there's some people that like doom, it's pretty accessible, but the other ones probably not so much. I bring this up because of another thread in NSG where some kids were talking about metalcore and deathcore, and the word grind got brought up, but I posted some true grind and kids weren't into it. Anyways, some bands I've been listening to lately:

What I mean is I can see listening to this leaving you in a really agressive/angry mood in the same way some chiller music would leave you relaxed and happy, and that listening to it constantly wouldn't be very good for you. Maybe its just preference though, idk.

I figured you'd say something like that. Music like this is more of a release than anything else. That is to say, I don't get pissed listening to it-I listen to it because I need to blow off some steam. This stuff, in my opinion, is a great stress reliever, and I always feel loads better after a good show. I mean, humans are animals, and still have animal needs, one of which is some level of violence, right? Better to go to a show, scream along, run around/stage dive, than it is to get in a fight. I listen to plenty other music as well, after all, no one only feels one emotion.

On the other hand, Doom is just great to listen to when your baked. It has a lot of the same elements of reggae and hip hop when you think about it-slow, with a heavy bassline, heavily blues influenced. And, ya know, just generally heavy.

okay i feel you on that. I guess theres just too much going on for me to like the majority of those songs, the last one is good though.

I see where you're coming from but its a completely different story when you're really into this kind of music. Instead of it making you angry, i find it has the opposite effect and relaxes me. Its the same as any music really...if its what you like then it makes you happy.

I hate to sound like a snob, but that War From A Harlots Mouth stuff isn't really what I'm talking about. That's a little more metalcore/mathcore type stuff. Most of the stuff I'm talking about takes more influence from hardcore punk. I feel like anytime someone makes a thread on newschoolers talking about any sort of heavy music, that stuff gets brought up. I'm wondering if anyone on here actually listens to the stuff I listed. I know that to lots of people the differences are almost nonexistent, and it might seem like I'm splitting hairs here, but when you break it down it's actually really different scenes.

I know its not quite the same but you mentioned grind and its a progression of grind. I just find the math/grind genres slightly more evolved and interesting. Personal preference though.
