Whatsup M&AI'm working on a project for my high school varsity hockey team (OTHS). I dropped a trailer and got a pretty good response, but I just wanted to get some NS opinions on the actually footage and editing. I was pretty happy with the trailer, but definitely wanted to change some things. Its a take on the whole NHL 24/7 thing, so let me know what you think.

Enjoy! (feel free to check out my vimeo channel too, haha)

expand on this for me? I got a lot of compliments for it but i'd value a different opinion than fellow high schoolers

I felt like he was introducing a disney movie. It took me out of the hockey game vibe and made it feel much more commercial.

I second that. More of a hockey vibe would be ill. Like with the music and such. Interviews were not the greatest but what can you expect from high school kids. Loved the editing though

The Audio for the interviews was not great at all, also the subjects were in the middle of the frame. Also the background of the interviews were all the same which got very boring. Nobody wants to look at a white wall behind someone try to find something more interesting to put your subjects in front of so they stand out more. over all it was not bad though.

Most of the shots in the beginning were pretty good I'd say. I feel the same as NS'ers above though about the commentary and shots of interviewees. There were three things that stuck out that in my mind though that haven't been mentioned:

1. At :35 that twixtored shot was horrendous. Either leave it normal speed or get rid of it. Kind of blew those opening shots for me.

2. At almost the same time the narrator speaks using "us" and "we. Is he narrating, or is he telling about his own personal experiences? Threw me off quite a bit there.

3. Defence, is spelled defense... Okay well in Canada maybe not, but this is 'merica. All I mean by that, is consider your audience. I'm sure you didn't even think about it, because you didn't have to, no one in the US was going to watch this, and that's fine, but just for future reference, because I see things like that all the time. Anyways, continue on, because that one doesn't even count.

In conclusion change those first two things, and make your interviews in more interesting places than right outside your film class and you've made an already above average high school film even better. Nice work though so far!
