Critique my shit

Solid for the first time out. Only things I would say are, get closer on some shots like skateboard style. Besides that try to shoot from different angles than just from the side of the skier.

Yeah mainly just switching up angles/shots, I like the focus on landings- showing clean landings make for a more satisfying edit IMO.

Very minor detail, but I always try to find really clean/minimalist fonts to use (with the exception of the intro), instead of basic fonts that are usually used for word docs and text menus. I feel it adds a little extra layer of detail that makes for a more complete edit.

I think some more b-roll of the skiers and different angles of them would help a lot, great footage tho!

Good on you for filming at a high enough frame rate to do proper slow mo.

Dunno if you liked the look as-is, but could try messing with color grading in post. Maye a little increased exposure & contrast? That's more of an opinion/preference thing though.

Nice work!

Yeah I definately want to work on getting more varying angles/shots, next time for sure. This was done in 3 laps so I didnt hae much time to experiment but il work on it for sure.

Thank you! I usually use a lot more b roll (trust me I go a little too much sometimes), but this was for instagram so I wanted to jam as many clips as I could into the time I had. With freedom of more time Il definatly put a lot more effort into the artistic b roll shots

Thank you! I'm very new to final cut and this is the first video I even attempted to grade but I plan on working on it more!

Was that your first time using a glide cam? it looked hella smooth and the skiing was fun to watch. But definitely just get more angles and different types of shots. I always use different focal lengths because videos are much more engaging when there is an assortment of focal lengths and distances from the skier. You can use wide angle if you have a gopro, then use a telephoto for more b roll for your intro or in between shots.

I've used a glidecam on my feet many times but this was the first time with it on skis. i mentioned in one of the responses above, ive got a 70-200 and i fully plan on using it, just didnt have time cause we filmed 3 laps quick and had to go. appreciate the input though
