When you are editing a photo everything is up to you. Photography is art and there is no "right way" to do it.
I like your editing on this photo, it is very natural looking.
In my opinion it could be improved by composition when actually shooting. When I look at this image I keep getting distracted by the stuff in the background and have a hard time staying focused on the skier.
The subject of this image is in the dead center of the frame which sometimes can look a bit awkward. Maybe if you change your position a bit you could get rid of some of those distracting elements. You can also change your point of view (get lower or higher) which can make the photo more interesting. Also, using the rule of thirds might help draw some more attention to the subject.
I'm no professional, i'm far from it. One thing I've noticed though is that my favorite shots are the ones that I've really paid attention to how I am composing them.
