Critique my edit please!

This is my first 'proper' segment edit and I'm not 100% happy with it i know that there are loads of things wrong with it but wanted some feedback anyway. I suck at filming and have a shitty camera and no fly/stedicam so i know that some of the shots are really jerky.

Let me know what you think...

shitty music right off the bat.

Use a less common song first at least to make your video feel different to the viewer.

agreed, i just liked it for the intro because it fit well with that first clip

i thought the filming was really decent for some of the shots, just try and be more selective the edit was on the long side. As said before you need to spend a bit more time on choosing music.

okay cheers, yeah i know its kinda long but i was trying to make a decent length segment as I've never done anything that long before, also my buddy wanted a video that could show all of his skiing but i take your point

I agree with this,

I think there is a false pressure on filmers to produce long videos. You dont have to. Often a 3-4 minute edit of really great shots is more interesting than an 8 minute video with decent shots. The longer it is, unless you are working with a ski film company or really insane skiiers, generally it just starts to become filled up with fluff (the bad shots, the homevideo/family reunion types of shots)

Ultimately i think unless you have 8 minutes of insane footage, cut it down, it makes people more interested, and they are more likely to show their friends and watch it again and again.

Yes and no. You can make both work.
