I have a metal whisk on the end of a string, and i stuff it with steel wool and light it on fire, makes the sparks

first one is sweet but the rest despite being a cool idea lack thought beyond just the steel wool spinning, try taking this concept to new places and involve people and subjects

Yeah that's the next step, however I'm doing this alone right now and I don't have a timed intervalometer so I'm pretty limited with the 30 seconds

how about these?

These are my very first long exposure shots (1,2,4) so i'm still tweaking settings.

Also were all taken in pitch black

though it does look like it's slightly tilted to the right, so it would be a little better if you straightened that out a tad

Cool idea. You see "painting with light" a lot in photography so the thing to do is make it different. Someone mentioned composing. The most important thing to always note is the "rule of thirds" pretend you are making a 6 square grid in ur frame. You don't want ur subject to be in the center of the photograph. Go find a spot that is different? How about a ranch? When I look at these photos and then see the ranch looking one you took I think of rounding up cattle, horses or pigs... I would say do a little shoot at a ranch. I'm not going to tell you what to do since ur the one taking the photos and going to be the creative edge in the end, I'm just giving you something that may help get ur creative mind flowing... Try lighting up things in the frame also, trees, fences anything really just to make the viewers eye move around the photograph. Good luck dude, hope this helps.

this, i suggest getting a hot shoe level for a buck or 2 on ebay, just keep it in your bag and you will be surprised how often it comes in handy

Thanks to everyone so far, those are great suggestions.

I did attempts moving around the countryside where I was, however there were lots of towers with strobes on them that were ruining the shots so it kindof limited me, also because i have no intervelometer i was using tape to keep the shutter open (whaddup)

Googd idea @Balto for the hotshoe level.
