Crested Butte Terrain

Just kinda wondering why it says that Crested Butte only has 31 trails open after getting drilled with 29" of snow in the last 2 days. Anyone ski out there that can give me a better heads up on the conditions out there? Anything in the park yet at all? Thank you in advance, I'm going crazy here in anticipation of our school's trip out there next weekend.
 
today at cb was epic, got the first chair and first tracks. Mostly crested butte is really rocky so it's alot harder for them to open up trails, although today was so sick it really didn't matter how many trails were open. first powder day of the year
 
Word, today was so epic, even if i was stuck clinicing with ski school most of the day. Knee deep fluff...mmm...delicious. The thing about CB is its one giant rock, it takes so much snow to cover up the skree fields that make up most of their runs. Relax home boy, cb is gonna open up its only the second of december. Alot of those trails you speak of are "double black extremes" you dont even want to know whats underneath the snow you ski on, on those runs. They have a little jib park up, as of right now just a bunch of boxes. But hey...who the hell cares...it was a powder day!

Moral of the story: its the second of december and cb is a giant rock...patience young grasshopper..CB hardly every is open as much as it is right now this early anyway. There is more snow up there right now then last year in january. yeah, there was more open last year in january but they opened alot of stuff too soon and it all got tracked out and was shitty for the rest of the season. Could CB open alot more right now? Yeah, but not safely...and even if it did it would ruin alot of the runs they cant groom for the rest of the season. You could always poach the trails...but you WILL end up in JAIL or the HOSPITAL...
 
Oh, I forgot to add. YOU WILL HAVE FUN on this mountain no matter what's open. Whenever you get out here have a good time man!
 
we should be seeing a good amount of stuff on the front side opening this week too... runs in the Twister area are pretty close now, Patrol has been rallying them for the last couple days... I would guess International very soon, with others to follow as the week goes on
 
sometimes there is a thing called too much snow.  And everything slides. Its fucking rediculous here..... so much snow. Today was one of the deeper days I have ever had.
