Crested Butte Early January?

Hey my school trip this year got movied from Jackson Hole to Crested Butte over winter break. I was wondering if

1) How does it compare to jackson Hole terrain and the massive amounts of snow they get early and 2) WIll the upper extreme stuff be open by January 1 in most seasons??

First off...dont talk about it....some years its open by then some years its not. Last year was epic and the whole mountain was open. The year before that alot of stuff never even opened. Ive never been to jackson but CB is one gnarly little mountain, if you know what you're doing you can easily ski every area in a day. The whole mountain takes time to learn though just like any place. Get stoked, leave your park skis at home cause our park blows and wasnt built till around the 28th of dec. last year. and didnt get decent till april.
