Creating popular content

There must be some tricks to creating content people like. I wanted to try to make some content that would be well received, so I thought 'what would make me smile if I watched it?'. The 'all 8 on my backyard setup' videos used to be really popular and recently there's the lip blind 2 craze of it being the only trick in existence so I came up with making an All 8 video that's entirely lip blind 2's. A video I would find humorous and entertaining if I watched.

this was what I came up with:

Now if you had the challenge of making this exact video, what tricks would you have or what would you do differently to make it a successful video? As you can see mine barely got 20 views, where I could see something like this coming from Totally Trevor or someone and there being 2000 views no problem.

So really what I'm getting at is what are the essentials of popular content?

I actually was going to create this same thread. Personally I did watch your video and no offense but i didn't think it was funny (quite stupid personally), sorry but that's how i thought of it. And i think alot has to do with the title, what the thumbnail is and if users know you. Another thing is, their is probably a really good time to post a video (like when a ton of NS users are online). For example, studies have shown that if you post on instagram the best time to post is around 5, in the later afternoon, because more people are on. Something like that. And you know sometimes your videos get a ton of views and ups and sometimes they don't, just happens.

In my opinion u should speed up more the hiking part to make the video more entertaining, and also a thumbgun (thumbnail doesnt matter)

You're on the right track there. A really strong hook in the first 10 seconds is important too. There's plenty of important factors like a unique title, a original song, a concept people haven't seen before, anything to catch peoples attention. Editing techniques and tricks can be helpful, but detrimental when used in lieu of interesting shots. Some of our best edits tend to be where we don't edit, cut or get fancy, but just film the skiing and try to keep it simple, but interesting. Like in Fuckin Problems or Broke, really just filming hot laps but try to keep it real quick and snappy.

The All 8 edits were really popular, but fell out pretty quickly because unfortunately they do get boring. One shot, one skier, one rail. In your edit, the skiing is good, but the edit isn't captivating enough; the song is really mellow, the footage is repetitive and the hiking sped up isn't really necessary. Not saying your edit is any way bad, just that it won't captivate many people when it sticks to being repetitive.
