Creating a good timelapse? (and computer specs

Well i have an HV30 (suprise suprise) and i'm just wondering settings on how to create a good timelapse (and editing techniques). what i've figured just through common knowledge is to lock the exposure and use manual focus (nothing refocuses it). other than that, i don't really know what mode is best to shoot in,

*oops, accidently clicked enter. ANYWAY as i was saying, i don't know what's the best mode to shoot in or best way to upload/edit it. plus i know there's probably a couple different methods as to what you're filming (ice melting compared to traffic or clouds). any help is appreciated.

also, just wondering everyone's thoughts on my computer specs and any cheap upgrades that will make editing HD better (i have vegas pro 9 btw)

Intel Pentium 4 2.80 GHz

2.79 GHz, 2.0 GB RAM

40 GB harddrive with 30.2 GB free.

32 bit

and have a 250GB external harddrive for my files

any other info? hows it gonna work?

thanks alot +k

get adobe onlocation if you dont want to have to have a shit load of footage to speed up in post, you can pick a timelapse speed and it will grab a frame every once and a while

i use the camera in card mode when im doing night timelapses because you can turn the shutter speed all the way down to 1/2

just set the shutter or aperture to someone that gives u a properly exposed picture. try to use good composition. stick to the rule of thirds. if its night time set the shutter to as low as u can go or if u can use a card to set it even lower. ur computer is fine..its the hard drive space. i have a hv30 but just anything HD uses tonssss of space. a minute is about a gigabyte im pretty sure.
how to shoot it...just do what looks good. walk all around the subject. move in and out. find the perfect angle. set the colors, dont use auto white balance on the camera..it sucks.
