cows producing methane

did anyone here what our canadian government is doing with $50,000? they are going to test cows to see how much methane gas they produce and determine how much it affects global warming. isnt that the biggest waste of $50,000! I have no idea what they plan on doing with the results when they get em, but Its seems dumb to me.

 
doesn't strike me as that big a deal. I mean when you consider that the budget is billions of dollars, 50 000 isn't that much.

this is canada were talking about, last year they spent 100 million dollars on stupid stuff, like 10 million for that race car driver to waer a canada patch on his outfit. $50,000 is lots, our budget isnt as big as the US budget is. But ya its nil compared to the billions

judging from many of the conversations on this website i dont think very many people have any idea who stephen hawkin is or what hes done

stephen hawking is a fricken genious who studies theoretical physics, what does that have to do with methane from cows? I have never had the time to read his books on time and space, but i will one day.

they should take, waste and turn it into methane in a concealed area and use it for gas so we dont need other resources besides waste products

they will figure out a way eventually to reuse all our waste materials to our benefit, wether it be fuel or whatever else, one day it will happen. and it dont matter about nukes, all us canadians are imune to nuclear stuff, plus all our homes are bomb shelters inside, so dont be fooled!

 
cows produce like 40% of the worlds methane...

so i can see how they would think its important enough.

but they should just give me the 50,000 instead.

on my friends dairy farm they take the manure and compost it. They collect the methane that is produced to run a large generator. The farm is still attached to the hydro grid but when the generator is running their hydro meter runs backwards, but they dont get anything for the power going into the hydro grid.

50,000 isnt that much, and its not a bad study. cow manure has a big affect on global warming so i think its important, its also a big problem if its in your drinking water, the nitrates can lead to cancer and birth defects

if you live in a place where your drinking water pipes area ffected by cow shit, you have more problems then methane. I grew up on a cattle farm. shit doesnt get into your water. and ya i can see now that it might be a good idea if they can use the methane produced for something, not just do the study and thats that.
