I was just thinking about it for some odd reason. Haven't played in about 5 years. Do people still play? I saw there were updated versions or whatever, but is it gone?
 
I still play. 1.6 is one of the best video games ever created, and the best competitive game ever in my opinion. Source is worse, but its still very fun. I play both~

hitboxes in counterstrike 1.6 were like god, no one ever made a game like that except for CSS whose hitboxes are just below 1.6 in quality but are just as good in my opinion because of the graphics.

the game is dope as fuck tho, i think i have 4000+ hours of it on my xfire account

but seriously Half Life 2: episode 3 is going to be fucking amazing.... of course whenever it comes out.

but just imagine this guys... Half Life 3.. with a Counter Strike for the engine.... OMFG
 
I sincerely hope they release Epi3 as Half Life 3. the Hl2 engine is finally starting to show its age.

On another note, Counterstrike: Source has terrible hitboxes.
 
invisible boxes that represent parts of the body. they are used to evaluate how much damage you take on a target depending on what box you hit. ie. one hitbox for head, lower arm, upper arm etc.
 
so when on COD MW2 and I snipe a guy straight in the chest and he keeps running because it thinks I hit him in the arm. Ya they should fix that bull shit.
 
i play 1.6 and source.

source has better graphics and a better interface imo, but 1.6 deff has better hitboxes, so as far as the essential gameplay goes, 1.6 is by far better
 
ever since I got a mac, bye bye steam...I used to play 1.6 frequently and then source when it came out....such a legit game, probably one of the only things I miss about my pc haha
 
Thought I'd dig this up with a new Counterstrike just around the corner.(CS: Global Offensive) I'm not sure but does cross-platform play mean I can play this on my X-Box? Too bad the pc gamers will destroy with their mouse & keyboard.

 
yeah if it said cross platform it will be available on pc and consoles. and that's right, console gamers are gonna get SHIT on
 
It's nice to see NS agreeing on 1.6 .

It's crazy to think how CS 1.6 is still so much superior to most of today's new generation fps. 1.6 has still a way better game play and that is all it needs to be better. Gameplay > Graphics anyday.

But sadly it will soon die with the exile of the sponsors and the money, so enjoy it while it last folks.
 
Dude! 1.6 takes us all back to a point in our lives :D For me its the high school days of... oh man nostalgia overload!.!.. must... reinstall....... steam/1.6.......... goodbye life.
 
love how all of you are talking so nostalgic about 1.6, when people that actually played cs know that 1.5 was the best version. wonid anyone?

played it yesterday for the first time in a year, some quick zombie maps, after that i went outside being dissapointed that there are no zombie in real life
 
Damn I still remember playing the first beta versions of cs. Went from playing like 6 hours a day at least to nothing for the last 6 years. I need to build a new pc.
 
i play CS:S all the time, mostly gungame, minigames and zombie escape. join the Newschoolers group on Steam and we'll shoot some terrorists
