Could music get any worse than it already is?

a few years ago i thought the music was terrible, and yet i've been surprised to hear the shit on the radio now....what the hell is happening???
 
Music always gets 'worse' and is full of people remember the 'good old days' when really their good old days was the 'worse' part of another generation.
 
Yeah, music was really good from the mid 60's through the early 80's, then kind of redeemed itself in the mid 90's, but now it just sucks. Anything you hear on the radio or see on MTV should not be supported, the record companies are just selling images now.
 
Oh, I'm way ahead of you on that one! You can't forget the 80's metal like Judas Priest and Van Halen though.
 
I figure music is gonna start getting better real soon because it can't get any worse than the new BEP song, My Humps. That has to be the worse song ever written
 
ya i havnt listened to the radio other than the classic rock station in so long, absolute shit. im buying like all underground and oldschool, other than death cab and late registration i havnt got a cd that has been made in the last year since i got the black album i think
 
i concur. and get their new album, its all their stuff from their live shows, iirc. i was fortunate enough to go to their show in toronto. it was awesome. 4 sounds, 3 hours of jamming. its awesome.

as for radio, i don't listen to it anymore. radio sucks and radio in toronto sucks harder.
 
But you can watch the videos on mute, so lonely sunday nights will probably get alot better
 
radio sucks. mainstream music is terrible. all i listen to now is songs from ski movies which do 2 things

1. there good songs

2. make me want to ski and think about it

I have a hunch that this is only the start. I thought Milkshake was bad, but it just keeps getting shittier and shittier.
 
No they don't. Nobody ever could so they shouldn't try. There is tons of awesome music out there. Just don't look to MTV or the radio for it. The radio has never played good music.
 
i hate classic rock. i fucking hate that shit. kids who think thier original are trying to bring it back. fuck led zepillin. they real gay.
 
if you guys think there is no good music being made currently you obviously are looking in the wrong places. There has been some brilliant music in the recent past (and currentlly) for SURE.
 
for the most part, music on mainstream radio and tv is terrible. there is a looooot of good shit out there though. you just have to look. and by look i dont mean look in ski movies...
 
i think a lot of people are too ignorant to listen to an artist that has been on mtv or bet because they are popular at school. just because there are some groups that suck doesnt mean everyone does. i like a lot of different artists and many of them are mainstream. your telling me that music from common, kanye, talib, jay-z, nas, outkast, eminem, mobb deep, shit i can go on forever. there is some very veyr good mainstream, you just have to be open to it
 
No way, you guys are just out of it. I could name as many current artists or recent artists that I enjoy and respect just as much as the older artists. You just have to know where to look to find this stuff. With the media age where it is today with the internet and the like, its so easy to find different music. If you guys are stuck listening to mainstream you are just clearly looking in the wrong place when you have so many other options in front of you.
 
your mom really blows me nowadays.....people who say "mainstream" are gay....who the fuck cares how popular music is...if you like it you like it and if you dont you dont...people are more concered with if its popular or not rather than the goddam music itself
 
you just gotta find your groove and figure out what you like... myself, i indulge in the laidback ska, as well as senseless-screaming local bands that come through these parts... it's all relative to what you like... i know plenty of people that like music on the radio that aren't tasteless, and i know plenty that completly avoid it but still have shitty taste in my opinion...
 
talking about music from tv and the radio i'd definitely agree with that. but there'S a lot of really good music out there. you just have search long enough.
