Corona cutting ski szn short

Ive got a trip to killy planned for mid january and a years worth of stoke to unload this season. Only thing is coronas hitting an all time high and many states are upping restrictions again, so im bugging that we'll see country wide resort closures leaving us with our dicks in our hands all winter/spring. How likely do you guys think it is for this to happen even with some resorts already open?

I highly doubt it and if it does happen I hope ski areas grow some balls and basically say no to the government, unlikely but it is possible

Once Biden is in, there'll be a nationwide lockdown.

It’s honestly up to the states on what they wanna do but once that fucking assclown is inaugurated he’s definitely going to recommend closures.

Three posts in this got political. Just saying.

Well if the season is altered in any way by closures/lockdowns, it will be mostly because people with political power chose to do so.

Utah is the place to be. Bunch of chuds who dont believe in rona and shutting down skiing would fuck the money up for the whole state so thats not gonna happen

Unfortunately i live in maryland where the closest (and only) resort is a 3hr drive from me. I usually go up to PA for day trips so if the borders close im beat

It's the place to be for skiing, not the place to be for safety from COVID

Y’all talk about your seasons being “cut short” like there won’t be any snow you can ski anywhere?

time for some of you to start touring or hit some hand rails

Well unless VT changes their rules, you're gonna be willfully violating their quarantine requirements. Just saying. Kinda hoping they change or at least allow to forgo quarantine in lieu of a vaccine. Otherwise their ski resorts are gonna hurt.

France is now unlikely to open in December and the other European nations possibly won’t. Hopefully we’ll get Jan and feb on track but not feeling hopeful at the moment

PA just implemented a rule where they require a positive test to get into the state or a mandatory quarantine for 14 days. They said almost in the next sentence that they have no way to enforce this (I just drove in, sister just flew in, we were never stopped), but just the thought is pretty unnerving. I get caution, but the state's government is kind of insane these days - hoping this won't permeate to other states.

Its a week long school trip and I'll be on break in the weeks leading up to it so as of rn im planning on quarantining/getting tested for it. Def worth it for me but i could see why weekend warriors would be hesitant to commit to that for a day or 2 of skiing

Fuck. Hopefully things will loosen up if rona gets better as the season goes on but things are not looking peachy for me

It's perfect! Either you spend money on touring gear, or the hospital bill after you realize you aren't good enough to hit urban.

guess this might be your year to get good then

I suck at rails, but I try to get at least one tube session in each year whether it's bone zone or end of season.

Urban skiing is more than just handrails. Hit up you local neighborhood playground, or maybe bury a trash can in the snow for some magnus inspiration

all you liberal boners get mad when you hear "ski in a red state" or "biden will shut everything down anyway" because you know its true and are politically and skiingly conflicted lol

They seem to be taking their sweet Mary time opening up around here but if they open sounds like there won't be crowds

If ski areas close it's for a good reason. I think it will humble some people with a new perspective and other people will just pout and whine about it.

Man, I honestly can't think of a good reason why people shouldn't be allowed to play outside.

New York has similar quarantine advisories. 2weeks, negative test, etc.. I talked to someone at Holiday Valley. Their “off the record” response was that while they believe in public health and safety for everyone. It’s not the resorts duty or desire to enforce such state mandates. It’s up to the individual to adhere to such rules. Or not to.

yeah this right here. The reason why virus numbers are going up is because people are hanging out inside, going to house parties etc. Virus numbers were lower in the summer cause everyone was chilling outside.

We need to be encouraging people to go outside as much as possible this winter, miss me with that "stay the fuck at home" shit

I feel like everyone missed the whole point of my comment. "If" was a big part of it. I think more people will be touring and setting up jibs and still spending time outside. I was looking a photos of big sky lift lines. It does not look very safe to me.
