Cores of skis: Plastic Vs. Metal

Hey, i wanted to know what the difference between the plastic core and metal core skis. Some people say that it doesn't make a difference, but i think it does. What are the benefits and downfalls to each of the cores?

Skiing is life, and without life, no one would be here. So everyone owes something to skiing.

 
I prefer a wood core and I think you can definatley notice the difference between wood and foam. After it's been trashed around a lot, foam gets quite sloppy and soft, wood just busts up I think, could be wrong but that's what I've noticed anyway.
