Should i just fill it with Ptex, or is there a better way to fix a fat core shot?

At home ptex is going to pull out very easy unless you have a solid home setup.
Baseweld territory at the minimum for a lasting fix. In a perfect world you'll put down a little bit of metal grip-ptex, and then weld over.

For sure epoxy that. If you rip out that edge, that ski will never ski the same way again. Don't forget to wire brush that ish and do it in a warm area. IMO core shots in the middle of the ski don't really matter, its the edge hits that ruin skis.
You can either do a thin layer then p-tex over it (p-tex may fall out), or epoxy it flush (more durable but ski shops probably won't touch your skis when they see that)

I'd just epoxy it flush with the surface of the ski. Used west systems and added some chopped fiberglass fiber for strength and it worked insanely well. Also got a base grind and it looks amazing. PTex doesn't bond very well to cured epoxy which is why it's not great for core shots on its own.
If you really wanna have a PTex surface there, you can cut out the base material surrounding the core shot, use it as a stencil to cut a fresh piece of base material that covers the core and edge teeth, then epoxy that in there. Make sure to check that it's a good fit before putting epoxy in there.
Also when epoxying, I recommend using masking tape cause that shit gets in places you won't want it.
