Corbetts

I don't know about that place. There's one guy there that pisses me off. I like all the younger staff I've dealt with there, they always take time to explain things, show you different options with out any pressure, and are just all araound good with customers. But this one dude there is always sorta a dick to me. Maybe late 30's or 40's, really short dark blondish hair, not very tall.

I was there today looking at bindings for my M1's. Everyone was being super cool and friendly. He goes down stairs to see what they can offer. It went something like this..

Sales guy "These should be good, they're P12's"

Me "ok.." looking at them

Sales guy "They're a jib binding."

Me "oh I'm not really looking for a jib binding, these skiis will be just for powder"

Sales guy "oh just floating on powder"

Me "yeah"

Sales guy "well these should be pretty good"

Me " what makes it a jib binding? How is this geared towards jibbing as opposed to powder"

Sales guy "Oh there's no difference"

By this time he's got a bit of a tone in his voice. Maybe a newb like me isn't supposed to ask questions, so he then takes the bindings, hands it the sales girl how was standing with us, and says to her "I don't know you figure this out" and walks away.

Ok dude, guess I'm ordering online, those bindings looked a couple years old anyways.

That same guy was getting snarky with me awhile ago too when I was getting my park skis mounted.

Maybe it's just me, both times the store was busy, maybe he turns into a dick when it's busy, I don't know.

I'm 6'4", 270 lbs, not an expert, but deffinately above intermediate. lol not necasarlily young either (30)!

I bought these primarily to use on trips out west, but to be honest I'll try them at Blue for fun too. I'm pretty heavy and am curious how a ski this stiff will ride. Plus last year some places we went in PQ had pretty rough snow. I'm broke enough to affard having a dedicated park and play ski for local stuff. Shit, I bought those skis at Corbetts too.

The funny thing is I know so little about this stuff, especially bindings. If he had told me jib bindings had icreased lateral tension or something half technical sounding I'd belive him.

personally i would've recomended a PX14 or Axial2140.

corbetts has some amazing staff there that really know their shit. im surprized about that. if you're shopping there i can let you know who to talk to and make sure you're set up properly.

FYI, the second you tell anyone in a shop that you're going to buy online, expect the service level to plumet to the ground.

I didn't tell them I was going to buy online. I was so stunned I said "I'll think about it" and walked out.

Agreed about the bulk of their staff. Really good. I've learned a lot there. Bought a lot there lol.

Thanks for the recomendations, still trying to figure this one out.

i know that guy you're talking about...maby like 5'7, bald, sort of douchebag looking beard, possibly some grey hair. he's always at the ski show and somehow i always get him as the guy selling me stuff. i remeber buying my trouble makers there and he was trying to sell me 2 pairs of 06's instead of the one pair of 07's and i'm like "...why? i dont want those, the edges break all over the place" and he kept trying to hustle me and stuff. tried to convice me that the 06 and 07 were the same ski, when i pointed the new re-inforced edge a few of the people that worked there were kind of laughing at him lol.

All corbett's employees are the biggest joke. They all think they are so amazing when half of them are major fuckin fruits who know nothing about skiing.
