Copyright stuff (songs in edits)

Alright i was just wondering was the rule is for song's in edits...my dad is wondering cuz i make some edits....now i see that tuns of kids make edits and stuff. So anyone have any good info?
 
If you are just making videos of you and your friends and putting them up on the internet it isnt a problem, but if you are making videos for a company and profiting off of them, it becomes a bit of an issue

yeah man that is what i was thinking, just making them for fun and to get noticed but nothing to make money off of +k for the help bro
