Copper pipe open today

They could have used all that snow to build like a 3 jump line of like 30-40fters and that would have attracted probably alot more people...

Yeah i guess tourists > newschool skiers. Most kids i'd ski with would much rather hit a jump line than a pipe. But most gapers are like "omg look at that huge half pipe!!! its a bagillion feet tall!! I wonder if shawn white or tanner hall will show up!?!? I HAVE TO GO PROS WILL SHOW UP!!!"

I would much rather ride pipe than hit jumps, I have always been like that. I am sure others feel the same.

I do not know if I would call pipe a "new" thing, its a steady tradition in our sport

heath man, people have different tastes from you. I know tons of freeriders that would rather take a nice run in the pipe than hit a few jumps. I am with you, personally, but we have to see that whether someone would rather hit jumps or take a lap in the pipe, it is all preference.

Maybe a NS pole is in order? "Which would you rather hit? - A nicely cut 18ft tall super pipe - A perfectly groomed 3 hit jump line - A long rail line with different rails - etc - etc"

The pipe was super sick but there was an insane amount of people sitting at the top and no one going a lot of the time. There were some pros there but I can only be sure of Hornbeck, I cant spell, I could sworn tanner was there but I only saw him once and he went huge. Anyone corroborate?

agreed. i was at copper 2 days ago riding the lift watching 3 cats going building the pipe just thinking to myself that they should build a nice jump line instead.

i was thinking of going, but dealing with all the snow bunnies at the top, sitting there for 30min, then maybe dropping in, wasnt worth it.

Plus a lot of clubs go there for the first few weeks, like the vail people and such, theres like a wave of 40 of them at a time!

2 days ago team summit was there. there was like 80 of them in a line going down a green doing extreme carves.

Tanner, TJ, Hornbeck, Lesh. a bunch of poeple were there today.
too bad you missed it shellie... my friend went down it in is sit ski today. we're working on getting air out next time.

But then they wouldn't have had the first superpipe open in North America. Don't worry, it drew plenty of people.

if you build it he will come

yep is it due to all of the new snow or wat? im in virginia and comin home tomarrow so jut wondering

its cause copper wanted to open theirs first and they could. its been cold the last 2-3days though i was impressed they got it open so fast. everyones in summit right now i saw andreas jon and tanner at breck on friday riding-they are def here for the copper pipe.

come on pipe sucks, why would they waste all that time and snow on a gay pipe when they could have done jumps?   i hear breck is going for a pipe before jumps too, what the hell?

pipe sucks? what the hell are you smoking, pipe is sooo much fun, you get like 5-6 hits in and can go as big as you possibly can push yourself too, you can do anything from 180 to 12's and its so flowey, i know that jumps are fun too, but u can pretty much do the same tricks in a half pipe. Personally, i like both the same, but dont hate on half-pipe, its part of the sport dude....

i dont know i just hate the crazy ice all the time, its just not a good feeling for me. and you have to have sharp edges,  so i can do pipe for like a day or two when i get new skis, but after that i detune my edges too much for rails and jumps.

breck will open jumps before the freeway pipe is open. but the freeway pipe is always open before the rest of freeway because of the grand prix thats comin up.
