Contour or GoPro?

i have a gopro and ilove it it is awesome there r so many different ways you can mount it and it had great quality plus u can make time lapses real easy they r sick and i bet a lot more people on here would agree with me

Yeah I like my gopro lots, (original HD) Works perfect for my needs, the only thing I dislike is that the video quality on snow with an overcast sky, the quality doesnt look as good as it is, but you can't change the weather. I would recommend this product to other people. Welcome to NS, and don't be afraid to use the searchbar ;p

they are both really good but i deffinitley think that the gopro is better then the contour. The contour is a good size and pretty much a copy of the go pro but the goPro takes better quality and makes so many mounts for what ever you want.

I like the contour since its more compact and sits lower on the helmet. There are plenty of mounts for it as well. You can get the contour gps and use your iphone as a view finder and tweak the camera settings.

thats cool that you can do that with your ipod, arent they working on something like that for the gopro 2 as well? and yeah one advantage of the contour is having it at eye level, it makes POV shots seem much more like the real POV, where as gopros feel like your 6 feet above.

Yeah they're working on a "Wi-Fi BacPac" that gives live feed to a device (iPhone, anything that gets signals) that picks it up so you can get playback and everything right there instead of waiting until you have a computer.

Apples or Oranges? I say Apples. I like the slide my apple has. With oranges your never sure if they are on.

Everyone on NS will tell you Oranges are way better even though neither one is "better" than the other.

Personally I prefer Go-Pro because there are much more mounts and acessories for it. Much easier to deal with aswell since more people have it. It is also ALOT more user friendly in my opinion

I have the Contour Roam and really like it. I have only used it a couple of times and never used a gopro, but i love the simplicity of the Contour, no fumbling around with the on off switch, just slide the switch, listen for the beep and you are good to go. I also really like the side of the helmet mount instead of the teletubbie top mount on the gopro. from my experiences the quality is just as good or maybe slightly inferior, but with FCP you can fix most of that. the contour also appealed to me because it is a local company (Washington) and it honestly just looks and functions much better than the go pro, and it has just as many mounts.

Coke vs. PepsiFord vs. Chevy

Celtics vs. Lakers

Nike vs. Reebok

Hatfield vs. McCoy

Contour vs. GoPro

Every brand has it's merits, it's fervent supporters, it's furious opposers... buy what you want, and enjoy.

I have both

GoPro's-

more variation of mounts

more settings( pictures, video, timelapse etc)

Contour-

better sound quality (if thats something you want)

180 degree video (able to turn the camera so you can have it sideways and still be able to video normally)

Simple on/off switch

Both have about the same picture quality( I cant tell the difference when two pieces of footage from the two cameras when put together)

which ever one you get you'll be stoked with what you have!

GoPro spends about 1000x what Contour does on advertising, so you will see more people using them

I like my Contour just fine. Reasons:

I don't look like a fucking tele tubby

It is nice and low profile.

I can tell you if it is recording or not, without looking at it.

GoPros have an issue with fogging if you change elevations quikly

GoPros have a tendency to fuck out on their users, just deciding to not work for some reason.

Quality is the same (ya there are a bunch of color corrected videos out there made by people with an agenda that say otherwise)

I don't look like a fucking tele tubby.

The bigest problem with the contour is that you cant adjust video settings unless you are hooked up to a computer, so if you want to take a poc you. Would haveto drive home change the settings then change it back at home again, it was the deal breaker for me

I would say GoPro because they seem like they would be a lot more durable, and have so many more possibilities/options. Not sure about the difference in film quality though, I've never seen a contour video.

I would say the GoPro there both really good but the GoPro has way more mounts and in the the new GoPro 2 it can slow it down to 120 frames per second and the contour cant do that i have friends with both. the contour is a lot easier to turn on and is a little slimmer but it gets your helmet in the video which doesn't look nice. Also the GoPro has alot more ways of filming and yes you can mess with your lens angle from your iphone but overall i think the GoPro is better.

i had a gopro but it fell off my helmet also the footage came out colorful so now i will go with contour

no way contours are way more durable my gopro fell off my helmet and i lost it plus contours cant get closelined by a tree and other shit

GoPro:

-Better quality

-more mounts

-easier to switch helmets with the helmet mount. You also don't have to stick one of those mounts to your helmet

-More durable

Contour:

-Easier to use and doesn't hurt your fingers

-in my experience it's easier to mount to a ski pole because of the shape. Just attach it to the grip using two of those big rubber bands used for holding brakes back and tie that little string that comes with it to your pole strap in case it fails.

i dont have either all my friends have gopros, but my cousin has had to get his replaced three times due to getting water logged, although it is free (lifetime?) warranty.

the reason i like my contour is because you can rotate the view to record infront or backwards. also, it has a rotatable view so u can put it on the side or on top of your helmet. furthermore its cheaper and it DOES NOT HAVE the fish eye distortion go pro does. lastly, it has a 180' degree field of view so you dont miss a thing.

I have a contour hd 1080 and so far it's great mounted it on a handle thing so it's real steady plus there's alot of settings for quality / height width angle and fps

GoPro. Havent had any problems, EVAR. And the video with contour footage above ^ should be enough to make you want a GoPro. That quality was shit IMO.

Plus you dont need to mount a gopro at the top of the helmet, you can mount it at the front or use a couple of the arms and have a 90 degree mount on the side, just like the contour.

I would say buy a gopro and while your at it buy lots of jiberish, saga, and fulltilt. Why? Because everyone on newschoolers has it and your not cool unless you have everything everyone has.

but IMO Contour is just as good of quality as gopro and just as user friendly.

If i were you i would search super hard for the best price because they will both deliver the goods.
