Hey M&A,

I just finished this edit and hoping I could get some critiques from you guys (good or bad). I know some of the grading is terrible and there are a few film burns but if there's anything you think would made it better please share!

Really sick! One of the best edits I have seen on NS in a while. I was surprised at how crazy good this was...then I saw Zac Moxley name at the end, that explains it!
 
i liked the filming and editing a lot. Only complaint would be the crushed blacks in a few spots but it looked like you guys were filming in some really flat light so its to be somewhat expected

The filming and skiing were sick

I actually thought the colors went really nicely with the vibe/ filming/editing /song (crushed blacks a little bit, but not too bad, as said above)

It definitely flowed really well.

As far as improvement, I really like the shots that had some skiing audio, a few more mixed in would have been sweet.Keep up the sweet work!
 
i agree with the bit about the crushed blacks but as said its understandable cause light looked super flat. I also would lose the intense vignette. Maybe you could do it lightly, but yours was intense. The best part about this edit was the vibe, it made me miss skiing a lot. It had a lot of emotion, well done.
 
Wow, great work Kalum! (and Zac too, I guess... ;)

-Vibe was fantastic, I attribute that to a great song choice. First thing I noticed, and knew I was going to enjoy it.

-Blacks slightly crushed, not a hugely, but noticeable. Flat light does that.

-Style and editing in this, as well as the shots, definitely reminded me of one of Zac's edits. Did he help you cut? (not a bad thing! He usually always has a sweet vibe going for him)

-Dub wobble at the end was sick, so was that hugeeee bio. And braedon's dub was sweet. Everyone killed it!

-So jealous you guys are still cutting skiing footage. I've been filming lax and editing that for a month now, I WANT SKIING BACK IN MY LIFE

 
I'm not the best with filming, I'm a photographer, but I can judge the vibe that the edit had.

- It looked as though there was a tiny bit of motion blur, you might wanna up your shutter speed a tiny bit. Again, I'm a photographer, so idk, just something I noticed.

- Grading looked fine to me, helped with the vibe

- Great song, I love when people use indie and not over-used hip hop songs.

Basically this edit made me want to buy a plane ticket and fly my concussed self to whistler to go fucking ski, as 1337 said, I need skiing back in my life. I can't even skate yet till I heal up which could be another month or two.
 
Thanks for the feedback guys! Stoked people are liking it @Sklar: I definitely know what you mean, Im hoping to buy a h4n for next season and then i'll try and do a lot more with audio.

@Jamie: Thanks man! But no Zac was additional shots

@ZbPhoto: Personally I like a bit of motion blur in my shots, I think I know the shots you are talking about. Those had my ND on, if they were slo-mo i had my shutter around 125 or something. That's just my preference though haha. Thanks for the feedback man!
 
Wow I love the vibe of that, awesome filming too. I thought it was a little heavy on the slo-mo in the beginning but the edit picked up pace which I liked.

It seems like the Wadsworth Constant is applicable to most artsy ski edits, but I enjoyed your intro and didn't feel the need to skip ahead.
