Confused NS'er on TGR - AM I IN THE WRONG HERE?

I didn't mean him specifically, just this tendency that seems to pop up whenever anyone brings up TGR members being dicks about something to circle the wagons and have some sort of internet nationalism rally... it's stupid and really annoying to see people putting NS's name on a pissing contest between two websites full of people whose source of pleasure in life is substantially the same thing.

I agree with you, I lurk there a lot more than I post, I have like 14k posts here since 04 and about 100 there.
 
so i guess what it all comes down to is don't ask for help on TGR, because although it isn't clear what TGR wants in return, they will want something in return.

you'd get better help on 4chan, because there it's pretty clear that all they want in return is pictures of stuff. just don't mention you come from another forum.
 
Haha!! It's quite funny that the hater hasn't gotten over the tragedy of me asking him (politely) to give a brother some help, so has come to see what I might be saying about TGR on NS! Oh no!
I think the lesson learned here is that everyone should stick to their own forums...I will stick to NS and advres can go back to TGR!
Oh and you can give me your address but you may have noticed that I don't yet have a job...I am trying to get one, so maybe you could watch my video and rate it 5 stars so that I can afford to come to the USA and pay you a visit?!!

While I will say that without the members there's still a pretty sick news section, team updates, NSTV and a bunch of other cool shit, I'm not arguing with you because that's not what I was talking about. Read my posts above. What's annoying is the "us vs them" thing that happens whenever someone brings up TGR. We're all skiers and it's really dumb to factionalize yourself based on what website you post on and develop some stupid rivalry, and that goes for the guys on TGR who do that, too.
 
i dunno...i think they made it pretty clear that all they wanted was pictures of naked women. you could have posted any random girl up there and called her your gf and you probably wouldn't have gotten nearly as much flaming. by saying 'my sister is only 2 you sick fucks', you're only fueling the fire. you just have to know how to handle those guys.
 
god tgr is so fucking gay.

my friend posted up a very well written appology note that i wrote to our resort after we got our passes taken, asking if it would work or their opinions.

all of them basically shit on us and said that we deserved it.

then one guy from the resort who my friend reffered to as "the fat ski patroller" saw the post and took it to his boss, they then sent us a letter saying that we had a chance at getting our passes back until the TGR incident. all that was said on tgr was the story of how we jumped a lift for a good ass line and the appology letter.

The thing that really annoys me that is semi related is people going to random chats and lifecasters etc, talking shit and annoying people, then telling them they're from newschoolers. Or the ones that are like 'its the coolest website in the world you should check it out'. Well, NS is pretty cool, but only if you're a skier. Why the fuck would we want random internet dbags coming and participating in something they have no interest in. The way I see it, it's only going to end badly. There must be an imminent NSG invasion from the likes of 4chan now.

wtf kind of creep hicks have naked pictures of their moms and sisters to post for getting help? thats disgusting. why would anyone wants to see their own mother or sister naked?

From what I've seen, TGR thinks the internet is srs bizns and there are more firey flame wars than NSG in the summer. If they are so in touch with the "heart" of skiing, why are they so against helping a fellow skier out?

Just because we share the same sport doesn't make us "brothers". You keep mentioning skiers helping skiers out. Claiming we have some connection because we both like sliding down the snow is naive high school hippy kid bullshit. When I was living in Jackson Hole, I met many skiers and snowboarders that raise the bar when it comes to being scum bag assholes. I met tons of people when there, who were great and good friends but just because we share the same sport doesn't mean our mentalities are the same. I don't just give people the benefit of the doubt up front because when you do, you get fucked over. Maybe that is my own fault and problem, I'm a cynic.

Again, normally I just delete any non ski related spam from a brand new member at TGR, but since you came off as such a prick, I figured the community was going to have a field day. I was right, 84 posts in a couple of days.

Since this is about work... I'm a filmmaker and I don't see Spielberg helping my ass out. Did you ever buy any work I had a hand in making? Why not help me out?

Those of you who rated it 5 stars I really appreciate it, it was a really small thing to do from your point of view but it could make a big difference in the application process for my video.
It won't get me the job, but it will help.
The level to which TGR is bringing the hate is pathetic. end of. Who would take this so seriously as to attempt to actually sabotage my chances of getting a job? It's really sad.
 
As for your original contest, I didnt vote because rigging a contest is bullshit. I will not blindly vote for the skier just because they ask me to. As a principle, I think the 'vote for me NS!' threads are fucking annoying and the posters are worthless pieces of shit who dont deserve help. Thanks though for igniting the ever amusing battle of immature NS teenagers vs the TGR adults. Now you've pissed me off enough that I'm actually going to go vote for whoever is in second place in your contest.

i dont know what you're talking about but my seasons far from over, and then it starts right back up at the end of July. I think it just comes down to you being dumb and then whining because someone huwt your feewing. No one likes a whiner.

everyone just needs to chill out. We ski, TGR skis. We do our own thing, and so do they. Let it be. The only one who has any real life effect from these threads on ns and tgr is oli, cause it can help him get a job. So why does everyone else have to put him down and hate on him?

You did bring this upon yourself oli for posting that on tgr, but you probably just didnt know any better so i can't blame you. Everyone is just making way too huge a deal of this. All he did was ask for a favor to help him out. Nothing more.
 
Aren't they going to wonder why your shitty edit has over 100 ratings? No video like that would get rated that high without serious spamming.
 
Oh and I think it would be appropriate if you or someone else forwarded the links to this thread and one on TGR to your prospective employer. Im sure they would love to see them.

am I so different from the dudes on TGR? when it is sunny, I wear my tall tee and use my skinny planks in the park. I do the hyphy bird and handdrag off knuckles. When there is fresh snow, I put on my beacon, grab my pack and throw on my gore-tex suit and ride my hellbents through chutes, pillows and drops all day
just because I happen to jib as well and powder-hunt I'm almost positive I'd get all sorts of e-hate, and that is why I'm not a fan of TGR, they're so stoked on their BRO/FKNA...skin for 9 hours for a slush crud hill mentality, I feel like TGR doen't have any of the lighthearted giddy fun that skiing has for many. They take themselves too seriously.
 
Spend more time there. I have the same mentality as you do and I feel like I fit in fine there. There are a lot of jibbers on TGR, most of whom are sick of the self conscious 13 year old attitude of TGR. There is a multi page thread about Traveling Circus with zero hate on it last I checked. The (jibber)/(other forms of skiing such as alpine touring, big mountain shredding, etc..) ratio of TGR is probably a direct inverse of NS. So yes we are there, just in fewer numbers.
 
i like being able to talk about gear with people who also know what the fuck they're talking about. NS has knowledgeable members, but I hate seeing sooo many threads on saga/fulltilt/tall tees. I enjoy TGR for the tech talk and the xtreme kayakers are pretty rad too.

TGR is a great site. The hate back and forth is obnoxious. I use NS waaaay more, but at times like this, I wonder why. I wish here at NS, the community collectively had more balls and would take the initiative to tell people to fuck off occasionally. Unfortunately, and this is particularly true for new members, karma lust fucks that all up.
