Do you guys reckon I am in the wrong? The way TGR have reacted makes it seem like I have done something really bad, but when I did EXACTLY the same thing on NS, you guys were all really helpful (thanks again btw, + Karma has been given out to the max!)
I am not too fussed, but I am a little baffled.
Whatcha think?
 
yeah that's just how tgr works, they see that as spamthey'll give you shit for anything over there, make sure you're careful about what you post
 
yeh well I appreciate that I kinda spammed it but yeesh there reaction was a little extreme! Oh well, one guy posted up a video that he made, on how to make ski videos, and it was the most gaper edit I have ever seen. I didn't think TGR were gapers?

To be fair I quite enjoy a good debate - but when it gets to the stage where they just take my words and twist them it gets dull so I give up - which isn't in my nature but yeh, done and dusted.
In my opinion there is nothing wrong with helping out a fellow skier. Just as you guys helped me out I always help out people on NS who make a thread asking for it (unless it's "please can each of you give me $1, I have no money."
But yeh like I say I am not fussed to be honest, I just don't like to be told I am wrong. It seems that you guys agree with me anyway so...respect
 
i have never read anything remotely useful on TGR. let those dicks stay there and leave them alone, we dont want them coming here :P

Fuck TGR, ill go and rate a video on youtube 5 stars for anyone. Its not really very difficult, besides i like doing little things for people, it makes me feel good sometimes
 
I'm going to go ahead and say that I find your (and anyone else's for that matter) "rate this video/sway this contest/help!! +++++K" threads fucking obnoxious. They clog up the forums, and make it difficult to sift through the bullshit to get to the good stuff. I wish the karma system would go away, because spam (which like it or not, and no matter how aww shucks innocently you do it, it IS spam), would probably laregly disappear.
Plus, you did come across like a sensitive pussy in that thread. No one likes a victim/whiner.
 
TGR has some gapers but mostly those guys fucking slay, some of the famous mags over there are insane skiers. they aren't jibbers because most of them are over 30 years old but they shred big mtn and do lots of touring and mountaineering. TGR will give you shit for anything you do, you just have to learn the right things to post so you don't get shat oneveryone's first few posts on TGR are pretty much guaranteed to fail

Yes it is. The reason the forum has grown and continues to grow is that there is very little tolerance for asslicking, cockgobbling, no respect JONGs like you.
And it is not really hate at all, just entertainment.

Mistake number 1.
If you had bothered to read anything at all, even remotely, you would know that the forum you posted in is about skiing. Not for intellectually challenged jackasses who don't know shit to beg for a job. Recently we lost a truly great individual and a number of the threads here are paying homage to this person. And here comes Oli to beg us to help him find a job and cunting up a perfectly good ski forum with his shit, as if you deserve to be at the top of a forum about skiing.

Mistake number 2.
You asked for help with so little info about what you are doing and why or a reason to help other than you need a job - that it is like blood in the shark pen.

Mistake number 3.
Even if the collective was inclined to help you to ask without offering something, even a good lie or a better story, is really rude. Some cultures it will get you killed. Welcome to the jungle baby.

Mistake number 4.
You seem to be easily offended. More blood in the water.

I've have grown tired of a lot of the 12 year old bullshit, and shit about tall tees and whats cool to wear. TGR is more in touch with the soul of skiing.
 
most of them rip, most of them are awesome people in real life, a lot of them blaze, a lot of them party, and they are deff anti-establishment like we are too. they are just a little detached from the young kids who wear tall tees, and since they established themselves as anti-gangster a long time ago they are just keeping up the facade now, and tend to go way over the top.
im telling you, run into a TGR'er in real life and you will be like, "why aren't we friends". they just have to go over the top in internet seriousness with the park skier thing.

careful what you say there. i would just learn to not take anything that someone says behind a screen too seriosley. Alot but not all tgr members are just full of themselves and like to act hard.
 
i said it in your other thread. they think they're 4chan. they probably even look at child porn and hentai. they're just angry because they know that NS has a lot more pull in the ski industry than they do. i'm positive there are more pro skiers with an NS account than there are pros with a TGR account. they haven't earned any of the respect that they believe they are owed.

you obviously haven't ever spent much time on tgr. you pretty much asked for it in that forum. they all like to talk shit. you just have to be able to take it and dish it back out in a semi-intellectual, half serious, half joking manner. don't lose any sleep over it.

tall tees do make you look like an asshole, but the idea that being on TGR means you're a better skier than NSers is just a load of internet douchebaggery. there are plenty of skiers on here that could shred a hill just as hard as any TGR user. the internet forum you use doesn't affect your skiing ability.

Referring to a business like newschoolers.com as "us" implies you have some stake in it. I was apparently-too-subtly pointing out out that you don't, and that if anyone's going to represent this website it will be the people in charge of running it and Bishop in particular. Don't go over to TGR with this "we are NS" attitude, that's what causes people to flip out, largely because the people who do that come across as stereotypical cocky teenagers who don't know shit about shit.

Though to be fair most of the people who do the knee-jerk "OMG you mentioned newschoolers JONG" reactions are basically idiots looking to find a point to rally around so that they can think of themselves as members of that community. Xenophobia is in itself a way of defining a group, it's just a very smallminded way (your use of of "us" and "them" terminology isn't helping by the way). You'll find that a large number of TGR people don't really care if you post on another website, though they do care if you act like a tool. And there are a lot of people with NS accounts who act like tools.

NS is a legitimate skiing media outlet among a lot of other things, and people who talk shit nowadays look like those snowboarders who were still acting like there was a war on with skiing well into the 2000s... you know better, don't start a flame war, just ignore them.

I think he was referring to "Newschoolers - Skiing's Online Community" not the corp. But thanks for making all the members here feel like part of something great.
 
You know what I mean, in the context of going around on other forums it makes no sense whatsoever to act like you're somehow affiliated with a company. Kind of like posting on here constantly saying "We here at Volkl..." because you ride a pair of Walls.
 
ok, so the majoirty of us aren't NS, just NSers. my mistake. i haven't said anything on TGR, i learned enough from lurking there that i prefer it here instead. i also know enough to deal with TGR the same way i deal with 4chan. silently.

to be fair though, the OP did not call himself NS. he did however say that NS was more helpful than TGR. if i was him, i would have stopped posting as soon as they started flaming, but the fact of the matter is that for the most part, TGR people still hate NSers and any comparision between TGR and NS, despite the fact that they are both skiing sites and are bound to be compared anyways. it's a fair comparison and nobody should get flak for making it.

they've taken everything /b/ invented and put it on their own forums. they've made their forums more comparable to /b/ than to NS. that's great for them, i guess.
