Ok so yesterday night I was walking down the street and this guy comes up to me and asks me for some directions to the bus station and being the good sumaratin I am I tell him some good directions. Then just as I am about to walk away the guy says something along the lines of "I know this is gonna sound really sketchy but I lost my wallet and everything but I have a "transfer check", could you cash it at the bank and give me the money so I can afford a bus ticket to get home." I know this sounds sketchy but go along, so we go to the bank and he puts in this "check" for 500 bones and the machine only lets me take out 100 dollars off the bat, so he tells me ok we are going to go to a liquor store buy $400 in booze and then return it and get $400 cash> By then I am too sketched out and am like FUCK THAT SHIT. But pretend like I am going along with it and walk through the mall with him to the liquor store, while talking to this guy I am like, Yus this is such karma,and he says "whats karma" and I totally laid down the law for him, I was like Karma means if you are fucking with me you will get hit by a bus. So enroute to the liquor store gig I call the 1800 number for the bank and get transfered to the the theft hotline and ask the hotline about these transfer check. He says this whole transfer check ordeal doesn't exist, and freezes my account. In the end the guy hands over my $100 and walks away for karma reasons, i tink.

Has anyone else had an experience like this?

That shit happens all the time, its a total scam. I have read several news articals about it. I'm glad you got your money back.

for some reason the dude i pictured in that story was the dude from superbad where he runs over the fat guy and will do anything to stop them from reporting him to the police. hes so sketchy

you should of told him that you knew he was a theif and he had two options;

1) you call the cops- he gets in shit

2) take him outside the mall and you get to kick him in the nads

He needed to learn a lesson

i once got a fake hobo. he came to me at a bus stop and asked for money and i was like "yea sure" cause im down with helping others. after 4 min the bus is on the horizon and he just walks away. im like "wtf. maybe he didnt see the bus and he will wait at the next stop"...nope, as i come by the second stop he was there and now asking ANOTHER person for money. it was cool though, that guy has bad karma now and he was obese.

Nice work not getting conned, but you definitely should've called the police.
