compressor problem

ok well i cant figure out whats wrong... when i turn on my compressor it sounds like the motor is trying to turn over its just kind of like rrrrrrrrrrr...what does this sound mean and does anyone have any reccomendations..its fairly old..a craftsman 2hp 8 cfm@40psi

well i lugged it downstairs with help from my mom..thanks mom...and plugged it in and it worked..i wish i had checked to see if it was working before carrying it down the stairs into my basement lol..thanks for the tip

i take it you did the free ipod thing in your sig. are there any offers that dont require giving a credit card number and if so can i say that i am five different people for the referals part?
