Compressing help

I can't make my video any smaller than 600 mb. I need it to go down to at least 300 so I can upload it onto NS but I don't know what settings will bring me to that size on Compressor. The video is in HD. What I used before was under quicktime settings, the H.264. The original video size was about 1.5 gb.

I'd go to H.264 with 960x540 resolution and a variable bit rate of 4.6kbps to 6kbps. That will easily get you below 300MB.

what program? FCP? file...export...quicktime conversion...bit rate: 5000, keyframe every 30, 1280x720, deinterlace...just look at vimeo compression guide

Wow, it made it come down to 197 mb. I sorta knew about changing the keyframes and the bit rate but I didn't know it made such a big difference and I ususally forgot about it. Thanks for the help.
