Why do you feel the need to join an internet community (one full of hatred and mostly misinformed everything, at that), and post little excerpts of your life or just tell us what's on your mind?

I mean, I'm willing to bet the vast majority of people on here have tangible, real-life friends that they can talk to and get advice and stuff from, but why are you (and I) still constantly drawn here? Out of all other places in the world/internet?

Like, sure there's the ability to connect (on some level) with people that may have the same passion as you, but it's still a little strange isn't it? To allow yourself to become a faceless username amongst hundreds and hundreds of other people in the same situation, and actually use information presented to you in real life?

So why are you here? Why am I here? I'm not sure there's a direct answer to this question. There's certainly no right/wrong answer, I'm just curious.

I think there is a big difference between a "community" website, and "skiings online community".

here at NS we have a purpose. we are brought together by our love of skiing and at least, when all else fails, we can fall back on that. other sites like Nexopia.com, myspace.com, and facebook.com have no REAL purpose. they act as a breeding ground for gossip and backstabbing. its like highschool all over again. i have sworn off all community sites except for the likes of NS.

its something to do when your bored. theres always some funny shit in NSG, guaranteed. and this site can give you a ton of info. some of it may be rumors and bullshit, but it keeps you connected to the ski scene.

but yeah its kinda wierd how i keep getting drawn back here.
