So here is my take on PCMR and the parks this season.
First off, I do think that this years park crew is doing a way better job than last year. The features are built better and they are maintained far better than last year. Also, I see the park crew out on the hill working a lot more than last year, and everyone that I have talked to has been super friendly and helpful, especially the new man in charge, Jeremy Cooper.
Now for my take on the parks. I know people are pissed about Jonesey's no longer being there, but I am willing to bet that this decision was made more, if not entirely, by PCMR upper management than by the park crew. It was super fun, but I feel they have done a good job of supplementing it by adding in the rail park on Pay Day and making Pick a legit medium park. Personally, I love how well Pick flows top to bottom and the fact that you can hit 9 legit, trickable features in one run. It is such a sick park to take quick laps and learn tricks. I think one improvement that would really put it over the top is to add some more rails on the skiers right side of the jumps where that combo box was. Basically load up that area with jibs to make it like a second Payday Jib park, but with jumps above it that you could hit in the same run. All in all, I think Pick is pretty dope.
Now on to King's. I agree with what some of you have said as to King's not living up to it's name as the big park. Sure there are some big features, but I really don't think it is on par with anything in CO, although I think it has the potential to be. Basically what I would like King's to be, is a bigger version of Pick. Take the same basic layout of Pick and make all of the jumps 30 feet bigger, and put in all of the big, trickable rail features e.g. single barrel flat down rail, big A frame rail, S-rail big trap box and so on. I feel that right now, King's is too "artsy" for lack of a better term. Sure the log stall and snow ride look neat and might be cool for photo and film shoots, but I feel they lack practicality. I think a good big park should contain fairly basic and simple features, but all of them should be large and built to perfection. Essentially the ultimate slopestyle course. Also I see no reason, why all of the jumps, especially the bigger ones should not be stepover's/true table's. I know they take more snow and cost more, but they are so much less scary, so much safer, and so much easier to throw big tricks off of. Anyways I know this is a massive post, but that is my $.02
