Come on PCMR... your jumps suck.

Yo does anyone else agree that park city has some serious stepping up to do on the jump building side of things? I mean all there smaller jumps are really good and have good transitions but for some reason the only two jumps that they have that are big enough for legit competition tricks are built horribly. every big jump does not have to be a step down and nothing in your park should hurt just to hit it. I ski at breckenridge and keystone when im in colorado and they have jumps on average twice as big as PC's with no impact. The worst part about it is some of the park guys know thier big kickers are sketchy and they dont seem to have any plan to do anything about it. Park City spends enough money on thier park that it should be a viable training ground for athletes in our sport. Ask Tom how many of his dubs he learned at park city and youll start to get an idea of what im talking about. Please do not delete this, mods. it is something that needs to be discussed.

Thats what i mean. as far as my knowledge goes he learned all his dubs elsewhere. lj has done a few doubles at pc but only him. compare that to breck when someone learns a dub like every sunny day.

I KNOW MAN!!! DOUBLE FLIPS ARE THE ONLY COOL TRICKS OUT THERE! PLUS IF YOU CAN DO THEM YOUR PROOOOOO!!!!!!!

unfortunately i agree with the OP. park city is seriously lacking a quality jump line. everyone says its gotten so much better with the new park crew, but i think its way worse. the last step down has a serious fucking impact that makes 3s at least for me pretty pain full. on top of that kings has a really awful flow to it, with some pretty awkward speed. that doesnt even take in to account the bullshit that is going on with their other parks. king con ridge replacing jonesys? what the fuck, the jumps in there are literally 5 feet to knuckle. are you fucking kidding me. jonesys was so ill last year and now its gone and being replaced by a shitttty kiddy park. get it together pcmr, the rebuilding of pick better be really dope this week otherwise ill be pretty damn disenchanted with whats going on there.

i would've agreed last year but the jumps this year are way better.

just go back to colorado if you don't want to ski here. keep kings empty!

i do think the jumps could be a little bigger just to avoid having to check speed in between the 2nd to last and the last (i don't count the huge step down as a jump, i do think that thing is dumb)

but i thoroughly enjoy the flow of features the whole way down...except the first picnic tables i got sick of those like 2 years ago.

and the log jib is kinda dumb too.

but i'm hyped as ever on everything else.

agreed fully on the last jump. it be nice if they brought it up the hill a little and turned it into a true table, and maybe throw a few rail features after that. also the whole picnic table is pretty whack. as a 'pro/large' park a picnic table feature is kind of out of place. haha so what are you hyped on about it, cuz you pretty much said the majority of the park is kind of whack?

everything except the picnic tables, log stall, and last jump....

that leaves a whole lot of stuff

If every jump was like the second (after the step over) it would be ill.. just like that but bigger. I think the last two (step down and mega step down) are too step downish/flat landings, but what can ya do.

If they built two jumps just like the one at the bottom of pick, but 60 - 70 feet, it would be fire. That jump, as far as angles, pop, etc. goes is perfect in my opinion. True table with a long, mellow yet still boosty kicker.

i'm stoked to see the redesigned pick.

So here is my take on PCMR and the parks this season.

First off, I do think that this years park crew is doing a way better job than last year. The features are built better and they are maintained far better than last year. Also, I see the park crew out on the hill working a lot more than last year, and everyone that I have talked to has been super friendly and helpful, especially the new man in charge, Jeremy Cooper.

Now for my take on the parks. I know people are pissed about Jonesey's no longer being there, but I am willing to bet that this decision was made more, if not entirely, by PCMR upper management than by the park crew. It was super fun, but I feel they have done a good job of supplementing it by adding in the rail park on Pay Day and making Pick a legit medium park. Personally, I love how well Pick flows top to bottom and the fact that you can hit 9 legit, trickable features in one run. It is such a sick park to take quick laps and learn tricks. I think one improvement that would really put it over the top is to add some more rails on the skiers right side of the jumps where that combo box was. Basically load up that area with jibs to make it like a second Payday Jib park, but with jumps above it that you could hit in the same run. All in all, I think Pick is pretty dope.

Now on to King's. I agree with what some of you have said as to King's not living up to it's name as the big park. Sure there are some big features, but I really don't think it is on par with anything in CO, although I think it has the potential to be. Basically what I would like King's to be, is a bigger version of Pick. Take the same basic layout of Pick and make all of the jumps 30 feet bigger, and put in all of the big, trickable rail features e.g. single barrel flat down rail, big A frame rail, S-rail big trap box and so on. I feel that right now, King's is too "artsy" for lack of a better term. Sure the log stall and snow ride look neat and might be cool for photo and film shoots, but I feel they lack practicality. I think a good big park should contain fairly basic and simple features, but all of them should be large and built to perfection. Essentially the ultimate slopestyle course. Also I see no reason, why all of the jumps, especially the bigger ones should not be stepover's/true table's. I know they take more snow and cost more, but they are so much less scary, so much safer, and so much easier to throw big tricks off of. Anyways I know this is a massive post, but that is my $.02

Regionals.

You and kirk chapman should get together and have a lil bro fest, you'd get along well.

maybe you shuold have just searchbarred.

Another quality view Brendan, and i hope some (if not most of this comes of this stuff comes to be reality but most of that stuff is left up to the higher ups at PCMR), and i can 't wait to see the rebuilt pick.

your season is twice as long as mine, your mountain is 50-60 times as big, you beat us by ten times in elevation and snowfall.

stop complaining.

i hope this 2 inches of rain + 60 degree sunshine goes your way.

Heres my thought on things: You are fucking goomba for skiing the park today or any point in this past week. Therefore your statement has no value in my mind. Go back to Colorado to hit park jumps all day. Goooooooomba

so much snow just arrived, hopefully they can do something with that. I hope pick opens again soon. They had better create a duplicate of that last jump, so prime.

why should you care? you need atleast 200 posts and 500 karma to be hitting jumps that big :)

My threads. This is hilarious. Stop TRAINING and go ski some pow. Although I do agree the speed in kings is whack as well as the yumps.

as of today the landings on the second to last and very last are quite a bit steeper. the second to last is much better. the very last still hurts if you land halfway down or further, but isnt bad at all if you land high on the landing....

Dude i dont even think those jumps could be good no matter how steep the landings are, the fact is they are too stepdown-y and dont give you good enough loft because if they did the landings would hurt even more. I think everyone on here would agree that a big step-up is going to see a lot more tricks thrown than a big stepdown like the last two in kings. honestly to make the stepdowns better you would need way more snow than you would to make a good step up. All im saying is its 2010 and we are still sending ourselve onto damaging landings when there are people who know how to make jumps that are actually safe. Its really surprising to me that pc hasnt caught on to how to build a good jump because they even had jon come and build a jump to learn dubs off a few years ago. These forums can change things, if everyone says we want step-ups, we will get step-ups.

yeah seriously. i would be stoked out of my fuckin mind to go ski PC. but whatever, i guess theres kids who dont get to ski at all so who am i to talk?

OH NOES!!!11111!!ELEVEN. TAMMY WALLNUTS ISNT DOING DUBS OFF OF PC JUMPS. THAT MUST MEAN THAT THE JUMPS SUCK. why dont you suck his dick some more?. I personally think PC has really stepped their game up this year. Their parks are easily one of the top parks in the country. I am sure Keystone and Breck probably have really prime parks too, but PC's Parks have way more positive vibes with super nice and super laid back people other than stuck up, cocky rich colorado kids. Plus their parks are soo much fun and easier to ride and learn new tricks in,

When you ski in New York, most of the places do the best they can with what they got. (debatable). But, with an area such as PC, I do not feel they are doing their best. For an area renowned for their parks, I can see why someone would be disappointed.

Heading to PC in mid feb...hopefully the work out the kinks in kings by that time...however I bet whatever they have up will be 100x better than the rain/slush that weve had here in the midwest the past week or so

since when were posts indicative on how you ski? It wasn't long ago that colby james west made his first post.

i sorta agree. pick is prime though maybe have the jumps a tad bigger and dont put rails between two jumps (step up to rail to money booter) it kills the flow cuz the landing is a sheet of ice and so many kid literally sat on those rails.as for kings goes though, those jumps are really not the big except for the last one wich is just stooopid big step down.i also feel it has no good flow. it doesnt make me think "wow this would be legit for a pro slopestyle" wich is what i think the pro park should make one think. bigger rails more flow NO STEP DOWNS.3 big table/step over (all very safe styles) and all in before the turn where the step down is would make that park super legit. it has the perfect pitch and being up on that ridge makes it so prime alllll day when the sun is out. and throw in some rails where the last jump is and BRING BACK THE STAIRCASE. seriously, wtf did it go?spark notes, BIG AND SAFE is what kings needs to be.
