So what does this mean for New York?

this is now the 10th snow prediction map ive seen for next season. but i dig this one the most.

Let's step back and take a look at this.

If an area is shaded neither below average or above average, what category would it fall under?

I hope NY just has a normal winter..cold, and 2 ft of snow on the ground all winter. I'd like that.

Don't take their forecasts for granted. Look at their 2011-12 forecast.

NOAA was even getting monthly predictions wrong last winter. I think we are really just going to have to wait and see what happens.

However if their prediction is correct I may need to head down to UTAH.

I've never put much faith in these, but the year I move to Washington for school it's an El Nino.

They were right about the PNW but the midwest and east coast predictions were way off. I'm just saying winter is a ways away and we can't really pin point what will happen. Even though its predicted to be El nino the jet stream can get all fucked up like It was for the passed few years.

this is the most vague weather map I've seen. No shit its going to be mild in florida, cold in New England, and snowy in the mountains
