I've been figureing out colour correction in after effects and I love it. The levels tool allows you to see the historgram and adjust accordingly while the colour balence too makes grading easy. The trouble however is how to I grade in after effects and then transfer it to FCP? Anyone done this before?

Color Correct -> render it and then bring it into final cut

unless there is some fancy way the two work together.

Export timelines as XML files.

You can edit in FCP, then export it as an XML file, and then import that into Premier (I think AE as well).

Also vice versa I believe.

FCP does lack a few things that AE has, although color takes care of that. Colorista is pretty sweet though.

AE is alot easier to work in, that's like saying why get colourista when you already have a three way colour wheel in FCP

I mean, to color grade, all you need is the 3-way color corrector. You can even grade with it if you want.

Thats how FCP exports and imports from Color.

XML Files do work in FCP unless you are using FCP X.

If you are using FCP X, then this is not possible because FCP X does not support XML... yet, which is one of the biggest fails by Apple.

You have to make sure you export as XML, and then in FCP go to file>import>XML
