Colorado State vs University of Utah

no shit. university of colorado (boulder) and colorado state (fort collins) are pretty easy to distinguish

 
Fort Collins fucking sucks. It's one of the worst college towns i've been to, the campus is shitty. It's far as fuck from decent riding. Go to Utah.
 
I'm really sorry. I'm trying to get serious opinions and I'm having a hard time telling if you are all being sarcastic or completely serious, because I'll probably make my choice depending on whatever information I get
 
You must be one of those people who go to CSU.

You're gonna love your school, and have pride for it and think it's better than all other schools. But when you're in fort collins it's laughable that kids think that fort collins is better than any school near it. Boulder is just all around better, the town the people, the campus, the quality of the education. Utah is the same way. I mean shit school of mines would be more fun to attend than CSU. OP go to utah.

If Fort Collins is so terrible why is it constantly ranked one of the best college towns and overall places to live year after year by Forbes, Money, CNN, and plenty of others?

The one thing about Utah is the only saving grace that everyone tends to fall back on is the skiing is awesome.

But there's more to college then that. What about the girls, the parties, the community? The education?

How do they compare in that regard?
 
No I lived in Breckenridge and visited both colleges on a lot of weekends. So being that I spend an equal time at both schools I probably have more of an idea then you.

I've lived in Colorado for almost 21 years now. I guarantee I have a much better idea than you think you do.
 
Nope two strait years and I made a decision off my experiences from the time I've spent at each location. No need to be mad where you live sucks, and one day when you leave you'll see you can do much better.
 
Exactly what he said, depends what your studying look at the education for instance the business school at CSU is a really good school.

It takes around 2 hours to get to Keystone and about 30 minutes more for breck and your season pass for colorado will be much cheaper and have more than one world class resort.

I go to CSU and fucking love it so much fun if you want to party try to get into corbett hall or somewhere close thats the best dorms to make friends who party and your always gonna have fun.

There are alot of people who go skiing every weekend and its not hard to find a ride. I am a sophomore now and live in an awesome house pretty close to campus and still find parties every thursday, friday, saturday and they are all super fun and everyone is super chill at CSU

Like that other guy said yes alot of people do smoke weed but you dont have to hang out with them, me personally i do not smoke weed i just drink and when you go to a party there are more people drinking than smoking every time.

Honestly its a pretty hard choice it all depends on how often you want to go skiing and how close you want to be.

I personally go up every weekend and stay the entire weekend. but i know kids in utah that ski thursday-sunday and i know that would wear me out

Last beer in utah is only 3.2% so thats pretty shittty...

Are those the only two schools you got into? If not, you should probably choose a different school that doesn't completely suck manatee dick. Also, the fact that you're relying on a bunch of random idiots on a message board to decide where you want to go to college is beyond sad.
 
boulder has to be one of the absolute worst places ive ever been, the worst fucking people ive ever seen, snobby mother fuckers all over the place, everyones so chill and accepting until your not just like them then they're too good for you, i feel like that college just attracts the worst kind of kids. its pretty insane actually how you can enter that fucking town and suddenly everyone goes from being normal everywhere else in colorado to being this stuck up snobby "im better than you cause i live in BOULDER, and dont drive a car, dont own a TV cause green and stuff, parents are millionaires but i dont shower and i buy shitty clothes so i can look like a bum and play hippie then jump in my fucking prius" the surrounding areas pretty cool, but fort collins beats boulder in terms of people by far, and in terms of the town and surrounding areas by a little.

 
ive never been to boulder so i cant say anything but i know lots of kids that have transferred from CU for the exact reasons he's saying. and here at CSU we are not trust fund babies there might be a few that you meet but mainly in the greek life which isnt even very popular unlike CU where ive heard multiple people say you need to be in a frat if you wanna go to fun parties

Fort Collins fucking sucks, so just accept that fact. And to the dude that lived in CO for 21 years, go for you, you have no frame of reference for anything better. After 5 years I am glad to get the fuck out of CO. Way too many fucking bros, whether you're dealing with the CU frat bro or the Breck bro and the lineup of busted broads is incomparable.
 
im sorry you feel that way you must of just had a bad experience and some poeple do love colorado and idk what your talking about there are sexy girls all over colorado especially in fort collins maybe more in boulder but there all stuck up bitches.

and CSU is a very good school actually its rated 134 in the nation which isnt super good but thats just as a whole

CSU Veterinarian school is rated 3rd in the nation

Business school is 89th public in the nation and number 1 public business in colorado

it is definetely not a bad college is my point

 
It always baffles me when dumbass CSU students bring up their veterinary school. Veterinary school is a postgraduate program. You can't go to the veterinary school just because you got accepted to CSU. As such, it's completely irrelevant to a discussion about undergraduate education.

I don't understand why either school would try to play up academics. Both Utah and CSU have really shitty academics. If you want to convince people to go to your schools, you need to focus on your other attributes because you're not going to convince anybody that you have good academics.

but anyways not everybody can get into a school like stanford or schools like that, and you cant say CSU doesnt have good academics cause they do, no they dont have the best, but for a public school there pretty damn good
 
Exactly this, frat kids definitely have a good time but there's plenty of other shit going down on the hill most nights of the week.

Fort Collins is a very nice little town with excellent food, beer, and outdoors, I'd definitely recommend it. Traffic isn't a pain in the ass, you can ride your bike everywhere safely, and the people who go there are actually from Colorado a lot of the time. Unfortunately I haven't spent enough time in SLC to say which is better for what reasons, hopefully I'll move there next year for 4 years or so and be able to contribute better in a few years!
 
Anyone who downright hates on Fort Collins/CSU has no idea.. Fort Collins is a little known secret, and we like it that way. Everyone hates because we are far from the 'mountains' referring directly to the time that it takes to get to summit county. However, there are lots of mountains close to Fort Collins, with excellent BC skiing, hiking, etc. In fact Fort Collins has much better opportunities for camping and being outdoors, as all of our shit is not run down and fucked like everything down by denver/boulder. The Poudre canyon(30 min away) has awesome fishing, kayaking, rafting, and an awesome music venue. We are the napa valley of beer, we have the most restaurants per capita in the country, we have far less bros than boulder, you can count our homeless on two hands rather than having thousands like in boulder. CSU has the most open space of any university in the country - huge campus. Also, shit fuckin rages here - check out the block party where kids had to get tear gassed to get it broken up last week.

Seriously though, Fort Collins is only as awesome as it is because all of the shitty haters are not here. OP - don't listen to these assholes, they know nothing.

Utah by far. better skiing closer. for the most part salt lake is a sick city..don't let the mormon stigma fool you. it's actually really nice, clean, and not falling apart because the mormons have so much money. some laws are a bit whacky, but in your day to day life you'll rarely notice it enough to be hugely affected.

had a blast all the times I've been there--skied pow and sick park, then hit up a house party basically every night. the university district is like a college town. and depending what you're studying U of U is top notch. pretty nice campus too.

I"ve been to both fort collins and boulder, as well, and they're certainly not bad at all, I'd just prefer salt lake. there's no lying that utah gets WAY more snow than summit county, and personally I prefer PC/brighton to those parks.
 
being a colorado fan, i have to admit that utah is the shit, while i actually like colorado resorts as a whole more than utah (telluride, silverton, steamboat, wolf creek, etc.. along with summit county, make it the best state overall for skiing imo) the SLC area is better than the denver/boulder/ft. collins areas in terms of pure convenience and distance. and utah has moab, probably one of the funnest places on the planet in the summer.
