Colorado skiing...

I recently moved to New Mexico. Whats your preferred ski joint in southern Colorado/ Northern NM.

1)Taos, NM

2) Purgatory, Co (Durango)

3) Wolf Creek, Co

4) Telluride, Co

Looking forward to my first non upstate NY skiing experience!!!

Thanks for your opinion!

You need to add Crested Butte to that list even if it is a further drive, It's one of the best mountains around

whoever you were reading from was trolling, people like to make fun of it because of how little snow it gets

I travel from South Dakota to crash with friends and use an Epic Local pass like every open or long weekend we had. Some dude that we met who was at snowball and still on acid at the time we spoke, talked like wolf creek was nothing but fields of powder in mid-winter. something about the desert drying it up and dumping or some shit. Whoever mentioned wolf creek in a chairlift ride talked like it was fucking heaven. I could be wrong but this is what has been heard

dude they're fucking with you. CO gets all the snow. Pretty much South Dakota here. Ski all you can in CO cause they get all the snow.

I hear Montana/Utah is pretty sparse, same with the PNW. I would go ski here...i mean...there...

Taos- Amazing terrain, decent snow (we can get big dumps but usually is like 8-10inches at a time), Great vibe and a decent park. I strongly recommend getting a season pass here. The powder lasts for days at a time if you know where to go. The most difficult terrain is hike only however there is still some pretty extreme terrain you can access by lift

Purgatory aka durango- pretty nice parks, no real sustained steeps, above average snowfall, lots of gapers.

Wolf Creek- SO MUCH POW, great steeps although they are interrupted by periods of flat terrrain, highly recommend kniferidge and alberta peak area. They also have some pretty good food. The pow here lasts for weeks in some spots especially when all of the gaper texans are staying on the groomed side of the mountain.

Telluride- Similar to taos but bigger with better terrain parks. The hike to terrain is amazing especially if palmyra peak is open.

If you ONLY want park in NM angel fire has a good park.

Crested butte- basically the same as Taos and Telluride, You must ski the high lift and north face lift here and also banana funnel.

All of these resorts are rarely crowded and get the driest powder on the continent that takes a long time to be tracked out. Ice is a rarity because of northern exposure for these resorts. Telluride, Taos, and Purg's season snowfall is usually between 250" and 350" with a couple record high and low snow years mixed in. Wolf Creek is usually between 400" and 450" a year but I've seen years there where they have gotten 700"+

Best time to ski is usually late Jan-April so the good stuff can get covered.

One more thing-If you live in ABQ DO NOT SKI SANDIA PEAK UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES

taos ski valley is the shit and that's a fact. whoever said crested butte is right too, it's such an awesome place to ski. not too sure where crested butte is exactly in colorado though.

Wolf Creek has amazing powder and is not a far drive from most places in northern new mexico. Stay away from angel fire, too many people and not any fun terrain, steeps or anything. Taos is good for backcountry stuff and they have a pretty decent park. Red River has an excellent park. Sipapu is the first ski area open in new mexico and the last to close but the mountain is really small. Pajarito, my home mountain is a great mountain when we have a good enough base. Great steeps, cliffs, jumps and pow when the snowfall is good. Pajarito and Sipapu are really cheap too.

Hi, I am new here and looking to start traveling to different states to ski. Is there a special section where people post formation on deals for resorts and such?
