Colorado skiing. In April!?

Hey all,

A friend and I are planning to head down to Colorado and get some skiing in. Due to scheduling, we are planning to go in mid April, and will fly into Denver. A lot of the ski resort websites we are looking at dont have schedules past April 19th, but am assuming they are still open. Can anyone offer an insight about any resorts that maintain a better resort, and terrain park, for spring skiing. Assuming everything will be pretty melty by then, but I have to believe that some resorts just fair better in the late season.

TL:DR any tips on resorts that offer the best skiing in mid april

ps - has anyone used any spring specific ski wax? Noticeable improvement in the mush? Thanks

i think official closing dates for most mountains is april 19th, but they will normally stay open a little after that.

a basin will be open well in to june this year so that is always a safe bet

just a coincidence really. third friend is gonna get in on early Thursday morning. He doesnt want to plan on skiing on thurs because he might get in later than expected. Then Friday, we are gonna overnight somewhere. But we dont want to ski three days in a row because we are wimps. So we will ski Fri and Sat. Rest Sun. Ski Mon Tues. Rest Wed. Drive home Thurs.

Breck closes 4/20 so you can get a couple good days in there. Knowing them, they will maybe even stay open a week longer depending on the forrest service lease. Keystone is planning on closing the same day.

no problem. Dont get me wrong, I enjoy praising Hitler as much as the next guy, but it wouldnt seem right in a place like Denver.

Like said, Arapahoe Basin. Their park isn't breathtaking by any means, but they sometimes have decent quality skiing until May.

If they're still open and you really want park, go to one of the giants like Keystone, Breck, or Copper

A-Basin hasnt had jumps in the past couple years. Maybe with the amount of snow this year they will build some. I wish Echo was still around. That place was legit and normally stayed open into May.

Breck/Keystone closing April 20th, Abasin and Loveland will be open longer. Park at Breck and Key will still be amazing until the end. Snow will be amazing. Weather will be amazing. It's been a good year for CO.

glad to hear there is a good chance A Basin will remain open. A bit bummed to hear the big players may be shut down though. I thought for sure that resorts list a date with the impression that it is tentative, and that they always exceed the closing date for some spring action. I thought you fuckers were skiing whereever you wanted until May! Haha, but thank you all for the advice.

If you were gonna shred Breck, Key, or Copper on the last weekend, where would you recommend? Main thing I would be looking for is a fun, slushy park, but things like vibe on the hill, closing festiviities, and most acreage of skiable terrain are also taken into account. Let me know waht you dudes think, tahnks!
